Best Sub $800 TV to Connect with My Soundbar

Need to find a 4k TV with preferably 100hz screen with a 50" or above screen and some smart features if possible for sub $800. I missed out on the samsung 50" smart tv deal around boxing day from appliances online so I'm wondering if it's even worth looking around for TV's atm. I need to make sure it will connect with my Yamaha soundbar though.

Backstory:
I have a Yamaha ATS 1060 that I tried to connect with my platinum 4k tv I bought from Target using the HDMI ARC port and it didn't work, Soundbar was fine as tested by the retailer even though they sent me the new one. So i ended returning the platinum one and now have decided to up my budget a little bit but I missed out on the boxing day deals as I didn't have money then.

  • Can you plug it in using an optical cable instead?

    • I did try that as well but it didn't seem to work. There wasn't any option to change the sound settings from internal TV speakers to external speakers. In any case, I don't have the Platinum TV anymore since I returned it and i'm now looking to buy a better one regardless.

  • there was a LG 55" 4k for ~1000 listed ydy

    • Yeah unfortunately I can't stretch my budget to 1000. Already stretching it to 800 so would really prefer to find a deal for around that +/- a little bit.

  • +2

I find it odd that your TV priority is that it's compatible with your soundbar. I say find the best TV for under $800 and ditch the soundbar.

    • Yeah I found it odd too initially, but it is quite a nice soundbar with amazing sound and would prefer to keep it if I can. The original TV I had had horrible sound which is which I bought the soundbar but I can no longer refund it too so that's also the issue.

  • ARC can be a pain to set up. I'm just wondering did you have compatible cables and did the old tv and receiver support it?

    • Yeah I tested it with HDMI 1.4 cables (multiple cables) and HDMI 2.0 cables and none of them worked. I'm not sure what you mean by if the receiver supported it. Also, the TV is gone now so testing it further is no longer an option.
