Buying Laptop from USA on a Very Good Deal

Hello Everyone,

I am in need of a laptop and was exploring offers.
I found some great offers on Dell australia website.
One of my friend in USA suggested a better deal on Dell USA website for same laptop.
Inspiron 15 5000 with intel i7 ,8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD for around 570 USD (around 770 AUD) . That is around 200 $ savings when compared to buying here.
I also was checking shopmate from auspost and they have post forwarding facility from US. So I have to shell out another ~100 $ approx.

Now the question I have is Is it worth it?
a) Does Dell have international warranty.
b) I assume there will be differences in power cords for laptop and I can buy an adapter to get it working.

Anything else which I might have overlooked?

Thanks in advance.

  • Bought from HN a similar spec (no ssd) for 870 something will be getting 200 back from Amex deal as split payment on two cards with Amex offer.

    • What Amex offer?

      • +1

There was an Amex offer spend 400 and get back 100 on Harvey Norman; you'd need an Amex Australia issued Amex for it. Expired now.

  • Can your friend not send it to you cheaper than shopmate?

    • No mate. Couriers charge anywhere between 70-100 AUD, whereas shopmate charges around 65 AUD(with promo coupon) . So this is better
