Brand New Mazda Cx3 Maxxx (17.5) Automatic for 23.5k

I have been offered today a brand new cx3 maxxx (17.5) with 3mos reggo, free mats for 23.5k drive away, I’ll try to get away with more freebies when I finally sign my money away. I know one should not buy a new car but this is a gift for my wife so please do not grill… wait 2018 or okay deal?

CX3 is so small inside. Got kids?

    why only 3 months rego?

how many k's on the clock?

    i'm guessing demo car?

if so, i would ask for 21k as you can get a brand new one for 23410 d/a with 12 months rego and a lot more than just free mats

    https://www.carsales.com.au/bncis/details/Mazda-CX-3-2017/OA…

EDIT - this car has 2 months rego…..been sitting around for 10 months - even more reason for getting a better discount, it's already nearly a year old. Like free servicing for 3 years and some tint would be nice…..

    • Hi,
It’s marked as brand new, had it for a test drive today has 10kms on it.

I will ask for more when when we meet again on Jan2018.

Thanks for your input I’ll see what I can squeeze

      • How come is a brand new if you drove for a test drive? Should it be a demo car then?

        • Sorry let me clarify that, I did not test drive the one they had in the back, I had a look at it and it was 10kms - some mention that it was interstate stock that someone ordered and deal fell through. My test drive was with another cx3 maxxx vehicle.

I had a look at the link you gave me and I’ll contact the seller and see how we go…

Edit: My first time buting a car from a dealership

Cx3 is a horrible car. It’s a Mazda 2 on high suspension. Look elsewhere. It’s not worth 23k

    • I agree, I’d rather get a mazda3 however this is not mine to drive. It’s for my SO.

      • She really wants the CX3?

        • Yes, i tried upselling the 3… i failed.

          @oztor:

          That’s unfortunate ><

As for me, I have difficulty understanding the rationale of paying a car maker small car money for a light car on stilts…because you are basically paying more for less…and probably why car makers are marketing them so aggressively (lower additional R&D and greater ROI).

Light cars with similar lack of front and rear overhang are generally not known for their resistance to being written off (therefore they are not as green as we might think), nor for their real world crash safety:

          https://www.monash.edu/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/1046063/U…

Given a CX-3 is hardly taller externally than most light cars if not small cars, I wonder if its seat height is really that much higher than a Mazda2 (or even a Mazda3) to offer that much tangible benefit…?

My wife used to like SUVs too - she even borrowed our friend’s old ML as her wedding “car”. After she got used to our cheap and humble Grandis (a full size 7-seat people mover…bigger than the Rondo and Prius V) and its interior space, she has since never wanted another SUV (until the day she wants to go off road I guess…then we might switch to a proper off roader).

Took a friend hunting for a used Mazda6 wagon for his wife and child…and noticed another mother lusting after a brand new CX-3 with her hubby and 2 children in tow, at a higher asking price. My friend and I looked at each other and wondered just how soon their kids will grow out of that CX-3…and for them to have to lose more money (including stamp duty) swapping to a bigger car and ride on the steeper part of the depreciation curve, all over again…

To summarise - I guess a CX-3 is fine if your wife is happy with all the aforementioned compromises. I hope for your sake she will eventually consider some of the arguably better alternatives, though…! ><

        • I see no advantages compared to the 3, I was even willing to go subaru XV as i thought that it may have more use. However, the cx3 is set in stone. It’ll be her daily runabout, school shuttle, which I am absolutely fine with - happy wife, happy life.

        • @oztor:

          Yes, i tried upselling the 3… i failed…

You have to get what all the other "soccer moms" are driving…

          happy wife, happy life…

Or you could buy some pants to wear…

Told my wife to enjoy her Suzuki Swift and that if she wanted the same CX7 as all the other "cool mums", she was welcome to pay for it herself…

PS: I love living outside with the dog. Power to the patriarchy!

DO NOT be fooled by any dealer that says a demo is better than a used car. It is only a used car. A lot of insurance companies will replace your new car for a new car if it gets written off in the first two years. They will not replace a demo car for a new car, because you are not the first registered owner.

    • Wow that is good to know! Thanks.

You are paying a premium for a very small car.

It’s a Mazda 2 on small stilts. Absolutely tiny inside and gutless. Plus it’s the POV specced Maxxx.

You could probably get a Mazda 3 2017 model (in jan 2018), but the next model up (touring I think), for around $25k

    • a 3 touring or an sp25 if i was to make the choice.

  • I made a general enquiry at Hindmarsh Mazda dealer based on price in the quoted carsales link ($23,410.00) early yesterday morning as I'm also interested in this model, within an hour the ad was edited and price increased +$500.00.

Hope the OP comes back and lets us know if a deal was made.

    • Hi, yes I’ve signed all the documents, waiting for car delivery.

      • May I ask if you bought from Edwardstown, also did you manage to get any extras tossed into the deal?
