  • Good first post. Thanks for the coupon.

  • where on the website does it say registration is $1? I just did a search on a .com address and it says the price is A$12.44*/yr

    • Enter the coupon code and it makes it $1.

      • ah yes, it works. great, thanks!

  • Trying to register some domain names but it says I need a valid phone number. I have put in my australian phone number but it wont let me continue through without a "valid" number? Have sent a help request to godaddy to find out what the problem is.

Anyone else have this problem when trying to register .tv, .us, .mobi, .biz, .org, .co.uk, & .in domains?

  • It's only valid on

Valid for .COM, .US, .MOBI, .BIZ, .NET, .ORG, .CA, .CO.UK and .IN domain

Thus perhaps .tv domains have different regulations? I registered a domain in the deal a couple of weeks ago and didn't put anything for the phone. Perhaps but a junk but callable number in there.

    • Do we need to put our real address also?

      • Well, you will have people tell you that if you put in a fake address, that you will get into trouble. As Godaddy charges $12 for private registration, the cheaper option is to put in fake information.

I've put in a valid but incorrect address. I have a personal website and I certainty don't want people showing up to my door. As long as your email address is correct then I doubt you will have any problems. I've used this method for the past 7 years with multiple domains. Not sure if GoDaddy checks the Billing Address when it processes the order. If it does then put in the valid one, then after its processed update your whois to whatever details you want.

    • Yeah I tried to register all domains other than .tv and had the same issue. Weird!

  • Can we apply this code to renewals?

  • This may seem like a silly question, so my apologies. But if i don't ask, i'll never know:

I was wondering how one would go about the transferring a domain from a friends account to my main godaddy account?
Quote:"You can make multiple accounts or use a friends account to purchase a domain then transfer it to your main godaddy account for free"

    Thanks

    • Buying and transfering is not such a good idea, since although the initial purchase is US$1, the transfer (and extension) will cost more. The "FREE" extension simply comes out of the transfer fee.

Other than that, the process itself is not difficult. You just have to authorise the transfer from the "friend's" account and the accept it in your account.

  • Does it cost $50 just to upload a website? or how do i upload my own design?!

It sounds like you need to learn more about how Websites work. There's a distinction between domain names, and Web site hosting which you seem to be confusing going by your question about the price. A good starting tutorial can be found here:

  • I have a account with godaddy after trying to get a domain name last time, but the code didnt work and it kept forcing me to pay full price. so i didnt, now im trying again, and again it asks me to pay 12.95 and says the code does not work…any idea why? anyone manage to get this working?

That's no reason to vote negative. The deal was good (and worked) at the time of posting. I know because I bought one. You snooze, you lose!

  • Looks like it is expired, http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=887840&p=3…

    but…

You can try the method used in the last deal, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/34560#comment-318373

or just wait until GoDaddy has another promotion. Maybe Christmas or New Years?

  • To transfer or i should of said "PUSH" another godaddy domain to another godaddy username is FREE they don't charge a transfer fee between godaddy accounts.

You just enter the username you want it sent to and all they have to do is accept it.

The offer does seem to have expired now it still gives you the domain for A$2.25 inc ICANN fee but add's WebSite Tonight Economy - 5 Page Web Site for another A$10.35 making the total A$12.60

If you try remove WebSite Tonight Economy service it brings the domain back up to it's normal pricing.

  • Be careful - these cheap signups have expensive monthly fees that GoDaddy starts billing later!

    • Turn off auto monthly repayments when you sign up? I remember removing that :)

I'll be sure to check in 1 year's time anyways!

    • As long as you only sign up for the domain then you will be fine. They remind you 90 days and 4 days before they renew your domain.

?? It’s only $12 or so at regular price but in the 6 or so years I’ve been with them I’ve usually been able to find a coupon to get it around ~$8/yr.

      In USD:
      2010 Renewal: $8.41
      2009: $7.67
      2008: 5 yrs locked in at $7.15/yr
      2007: $8.20
      2006: 2 yrs locked at $7.44
      2006: $8.20
      2005: $8.20
