Hi guys,
I have ADSL connection from Belong for past 14 months. I shifted this month where NBN is scheduled to be available in February. When I was searching for a temporary broadband connection for the new location, the cheapest option was still Belong as they do not charge reconnection fees if we are moving home and I can use the existing modem as it is. I placed the move request online on 10th December mentioning that I will be moving to the new place on 19th December.
When I called on 20th December to know the status, the customer care representative told that even she is surprised why it has not been processed yet and said she is starting the process now. After 2 days, I called again and was told that the appointment for installation has been booked for 9th January. So, even after paying, and giving notice of 10 days, they are going to take 1 month for the connection.
I just want to know that If I buy a 4g modem for use in this period. Can I ask Belong for compensating these expenses as they failed to provide the services? Has anyone any experience in this regard?
Short answer: No
But you won't know for sure if you don't ask.
Most places take up to a month (or 20 business days) from the time you put in a request. Doesn't help with it being December and its public holidays and lots of people being away.
Instead of buying a separate 4G modem, you can tether your phone.
