Ask Curtis stone… austrayyalian
Same price at Coles Tarniet West (VIC). I was tempted, but thought they must be old for that price!!!
that beautiful lobster!
Are those different lobsters in there?
Yes, there are two types, the Canadian Lobster with the claws ($20 each I think), and the Western Australian Lobster (or Crayfish if you want to get technical) ($40ish).
Imported?
These prawns are Australian. The Canadian lobster is imported.
Thanks
I rang and spoke to the dude at Crystal Bay Prawns (Qld) a few days before Xmas about their shelf life. He told me that their prawns have a shelf life of 9 days, meaning they probably are good for a few days more than that. I ate prawns today that came from their farm on the 20th of December. They were fine.
I wouldn't be surprised if these prawns only had a day two left in them, but they would taste fine. Grab a kg or two, shell them and eat or chuck in a curry and then freeze for later.Ways of using them:
Peel, devein.
1. eat as is, or with cocktail/tartare sauce
2. Chopped up and mixed into fried rice.
3. In rice paper rolls with pickled cucumber (use white vinegar and sugar)There was a similar offer at my local coles today (Coles Mitcham VIC), $12/kg for King Prawn. The lady who served me told me it had to be consumed today because it was already thawed and should not be frozen again. I bought 1kg and threw it into the freezer once I got home :)
You'd have to be shellfish to see this deal and not share it with us!
I never trust Coles prawns. Should I start to trust Coles prawns?
