  • I'm not sure about the motor. it says KSM160 has a Powerful 300 watt motor while others, say Kenwood chef models, have something like 1200w, 1400w or even 1700w.

does this mean KSM 160 is under powered?

    • +2

I believe the wattage indicated is the power consumed by the mixer, not the power produced by the motor.

    • KitchenAid Artisan mixer and Kenwood Chef mixer, Both are using the traditional universal motor.
This motor with brushes and commutator.

They are attached with the output power and speed change.

When the load of KitchenAid Artisan rises, it may also output more than 1000 watts, 300 watts is the average value of normal work.
Kenwood Chef used a belt deceleration,Kitchenaid Artisan used direct gear deceleration(The cost of manufacturing is relatively high). Thanks!

  • Bought same one $535 from HN yesterday as I have AMEX offer

    • Would HN price match this? I still have the offer. Thinking of split payment on two cards…

      • I got HN online to price matched POK for 150 model with no problem, they sent me the link that need to pay within 36 hours. However I thought I may go for boxing day, if I can't find any cheaper, then pay by the link. luckily I bought one from HN retail $535 for 160 model

        • Hi. So you purchased the KSM160 for $535 from HN? Would you be able to share the receipt? I just asked them to PM PoK at $579 (inc del) so I am keen to get it $44 cheaper please

        • @andrewm71: Pm your email address
