Whoops…TY Scrimshaw..
[Was posted as Jan 😳]You should PM Scrimshaw and thank him personally, let him know you appreciate him.
Only problem is that it doesn't seem to have lifetime map updates.
States one year maps only
Just buy any phone for $90 or less and use Google maps. It'll be better, last longer and have updates.
What's the advantage of this over a phone? Serious question!
Phone apps generally rely on a mobile signal, which means it will be problematic if your reception is patchy.
Plus they usually have smaller font.
Legal to touch and for P plate drivers, bigger/louder than most $90 phones, less hassle or learning curve for grandma/granddad, no feedback to first, second and third parties regarding the journey, no personal data on the device and few tears if you leave it in the car and it gets stolen.
Many people [mainly older] really do prefer them
I use an older Garmin, but I did pay $5 for it at a flea market. That way I don't have my phone visible"and tempting/distracting when messages rock up, nor need to buy a holder for it [V20 coming from a Nexus 6] nor a debate regarding "fixed"and "non-fixed with an officer finishing off a shift without enough evidence of their work load..
Save your money peeps and download Waze (supported by Google maps)
I've been using my Galaxy s5 and Galaxy S7 with Sygic for a few years and they both have screen burn.
Other than that, I personally prefer to use the phones.'coz of the amoled, just buy any good IPS screen phones
navman still alive?
Yes, man.
I wasn't impressed by the program and map being on the SD card on earlier models :-/
just get a $100 android phone and use google maps. you want traffic info..
I drive a fair bit as part of my job and a dedicated GPS wins hands down.
Better user interface (exit indication etc).
Bigger buttons for when your driving.
The less sensitive screen is a plus as you get less false touches in the shaky car environment.
Works even when there is no phone signal.
All without doing anything extra(downloading maps etc)I've tried on decent sized phones Android(Samsung 6S) and Apple(6s) with Google maps, Waze and Apple maps and the dedicated GPS always wins.
If your using it once a month or less I wouldn’t bother, otherwise I recommend a dedicated GPS with at least 4 years maps. But this will probably cost you $160+Why put in the effort, will sell out in 5 mins..like the dyson's
varies a bit from store to store based on demographics …. found a special yesterday that was sold out in melbourne at a regional aldi …. 4 weeks after advert …..
lots of people already have sat navs and they seem to have lifetime updates now for maps.
so no real gain over my 5 year old garmin except recalc times.
For timely comparison during the sales. They often only have a few in each store. The Aldi return warranty makes them a fairly safe bet for holiday testing. The "historical" traffic info routing looks more like a bug than a feature tho…
