If you’re not using ..
Unifi APs are meant for ceiling installation - with a wired backhaul, not a practical option for general home use.
Sure they're usable at home. Put it upside down next to your router if you like. Perfectly fine orientation.
Perfectly fine orientation.
YOU can put wherever you like, but advising others is different matter. Best to study UniFi - UAP Antenna Radiation Patterns to get some appreciation for which implementation is best for which installation.
60-90 degree elevation is for desktop/single floor use. Emission at other angles is wasted. Obviously, you may not care for sake of prosumer WAP bragging rights, and that’s YOUR choice - but, it shouldn’t be to others.
Since I’m giving heat, I’ll volunteer for some too - wait for 11ax - every radio manufacturer has released Draft 2.0 chipset - by mid-year, we should see products on shelves. AX eats AC.
Using unifi is worth every second I spent in the roof running Cat6 😀

Not all the time.
This AP is still working, by the way. Nailed it!
Post can be found HERE.
You can still mount behind a wired TV cabinet
Good price..
How do I uze this like a mesh network I have one already and would like to use as extender.
Just run a cable and wire it up to your switch
You'd be better off wiring them together (especially since you're going to be running ethernet to it anyway for power), but if you do want to create a wireless mesh network you just have to enable Wireless Uplink.

Been keen on buying 2 of these for a little while so snapped them as soon as I saw this deal. Glad I resisted the $199 + Delivery at PC Case Gear a few weeks ago.
can anyone recommend what switch to get if going for the ubiquiti in-wall ap? like this one https://inwall.ubnt.com/
cheers
Really depends what else you need to run off the switch. It comes with a POE injector so you don’t necessarily need a switch.
The in wall version comes with an injector? cant see it on the package contents in the manual… sorry i must have overlooked something… cheers
Ap comes with injector just an extra plug unless you have Poe router, important to note the pro ap needs 24v and some pie only provide 12v
The IW does not come with an injector. I have 2 (non-pro) so know from experience. It needs POE input, internal to the wall, so you'll need something at the other end of catx cable to pass through the power.
@dt123456: To be fair tho, that 24V on the Pro is the standard. The Ubiquiti injector is going for US$10 on Amazon, but all the reviews i saw on this state you get on in the box.
I looked at the Lite and the LR models which are cheaper, but it was the Pro's "standard" POE and only ~$15 more than the LR which swung it for me.
@dt123456: The AP doesnt come with an injector unless they are bundling one?
@asa79: Mine just turned up.
It did:-)
@asa79: I see they now bundle them, as in previous versions they didnt
@asa79: According the the leaflet in the box, they bundle it with single units, but not in multi-packs. Did you buy yours as a pair?
@terrys: original one I bought a while didn’t have one
Thanks for the post.
Just picked up my second one for new home build.
Think I might order the 24 port POE 250w from Wireless 1 too.
Get the unify model, I have the non unify model and it’s great but just doesn’t go through same interface
Yep. Going to grab the us-24-250
Already have the USG so looking to keep everything unifi for the streamlined interface :)
This looks like a good solution for those facing the NF18AVC 5GHz wi-fi blues…
$15 Cheaper going direct. $151.05 delivered, using code 5MOREOFF. https://www.wireless1.com.au/ubiquiti-unifi-uap-ac-pro-ap-ac…
Wow, that's awesome if I've hold for couple more hours. I just bought for $166 earlier this morning.
That one is Out of stock tho
Doesnt have the range as my old router but network sensing of 2.4/5 without needing two different SSID is nice, just need to get another to get that extra distance, and ability to manage all clients is better
Unbelievable price. If you’re not using Unifi, get on it!
