    14ms response time.

Might as well turn the monitor off when playing fps games. Save some electricity…

If you want a 28 inch monitor, Freesync enabled with 2ms pixel response and 4K, try this for $378

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-28-4K-UHD-Gaming-LED-Moni…

Do note it's just bog standard 60hz TN panel, for 144hz IPs you'd be looking at some ASUS ROG Swift or Acer Predator X series monitor which can cost double.

    • Is this good for watching movies and YouTube videos, and browsing the net? I am not a gamer, and I am in the market for a good but not very expensive monitor. I have been looking at the Dell UltraSharp U2417H 24", and it's $399 before the discount. Not sure if a 24" non-4K monitor is worth that much.

        what is, Kogan or Samsung

        both are fine.

        The Samsung offers 3840x2160
The Kogan offers 2560 × 1440 (but Kogan monitors are basically off-brands & quality may not be so great)

Either way, they suit your purpose fine even if you're just a web browsing / netflix watcher.

If you are fussy about color accuracy for any reason, you should look into a IPS panel, such as Lenovo L27Q $336

        • Thanks. The Lenovo one looks like what I am after. Will see if I can find some reviews of it online. Cheers

        • @AussieDaddy: That Lenovo is an excellent deal. IPS is a much better technology than TN with great viewing angles, better colours and everything seems to be a bit sharper. If you were willing to spend a bit more then the 4K Lenovo screen is also a good deal.

        • @nubzy: The one Scrimshaw listed is just a 2K monitor, is it? I don't have NBN in my area yet, and won't have it for a while, so I am still on that good old Broadband network and it's as slow as a snail, so I am not sure if a 4K monitor will do me any good (at least on the net). But if it doesn't cost a lot then I might invest in one, just in case they roll out NBN here in the near future.

@AussieDaddy: Yes that one is QHD. This one is 4K: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkVision-X1-27-4K-UHD-I…

Even if you don't use it to play 4K videos it will still make for sharper text and more detailed photos, but QHD is still good.

        • @nubzy: Ta

        • If you are doing any gaming then DO NOT get a 4K monitor as they just need too much grunt to run!

Initially I had a older GTX560Ti and had my 4K monitor running over DVI but it was not a very sharp picture at all. Now I have a RX580 and can run it over DisplayPort and the text and video is extremely clear and sharp. Only downside, is in games like PUBG I have to turn the settings right down to get acceptable FPS rates.

@stewy: Nah, not a gamer. I bought my first console (Xbox One S) a year ago for over $300 from JB HiFi, and have used it once or twice. Lost interest in it as I never played video games before, and bought it just for its 4K capability (I was thinking to buy a 4K TV back then, but I even shelved that idea and still own a very old 40" Samsung FULL HD TV). I spend most of my free time on my PC browsing the net and YouTube + plus other social network sites, so I am just looking for a decent monitor.

    • A whole $1 cheaper from Harvey Norman with Amex cash back (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-28-series-5-ultra-hd…)

    • Do you know if you can overclock the refresh rates on these?

  • What would this be like using Excel spreadsheet work?

    • Depends how good your eyes are. At 4K, you may need to increase scaling for text to be legible.

      The pixel density of a 28” UHD screen is 157.35 Pixels Per Inch (PPI), compared to 108.79 PPI for a 27” 2560 x 1440 model and 81.59 PPI for a 27” 1920 x 1080 monitor.

      • 1440p is not 4K.

        • He didn't say 1440p was 4k, he just explained what kind of density each resolution provides to the eye.

    • +1

Great. Lots of Pixels to fit your spreadsheet in!

    • I find 27" a bit big for office use as you need to move your head to see the sides of the screen, rather than a quick glance with your eyes. Track down a 24" 1440p monitor for the perfect office experience.

  • +1

Wouldn't touch a Kogan monitor again.
Quality is horrendous. I have the previous QHD monitor. The metal edges are so rough and sharp you could cut yourself. Brightness is set waaaay to high, even on the lowest setting

    • I have a Dell P2713H and the brightness is crazy high as well. Colours are great though and it supports 2560 at 60hz with DisplayPort.

  • So the Amazon listing is false advertising? Wrong title? Surely can get a partial refund from Amazon if it turns out to be the quad hd 27"?

    • It will be the 27" and I don't know if they'd give a partial refund for the mistake. Probably not worth the effort.

  • This resolution is perfect in a 24".

  • Why is this called 4K when only 1440p? Don't understand.

    • It isn't called 4k…

  • Really bad reviews about this monitor

  • I have a $30 off $120 spend if anyone wants it. PM me.
