$5 off Your Next Consultation @ QOCTOR (Quick Online Doctor)

XMAS175OFF

QOCTOR is a Melbourne based e-medicine provider that offers medical certificates & referrals, prescriptions and doctors consultations via Skype for patients Australia-wide.

They're very handy for when I need a medical or carer's certificate for work, and I've always found the service to be efficient and professional, and much cheaper than attending my regular doctor here in Brisbane (who does not bulk bill) to obtain the same service ($20 vs $76 minus Medicare rebate).

Given the medical/carer's certificates and prescriptions for selected conditions are usually $20, this coupon means a saving of 25% off the regular price, which is excellent!

Quick online doctor. What could go wrong šŸ˜³šŸ™„

The conditions for which they can offer certificates, prescriptions etc are quite specific, but they are all qualified (to Australian standards) doctors - all of the consults I've had are with blokes of Indian descent (my regular doc is Chinese, so no bother to me) but I've found them all to be thorough, empathetic and professional.

Hmm. Do their medical certificates say Quick Online Doctor on it?

How do they check your ears, throat, use their stethoscope, etc from remote?

Do the prescriptions just get printed out on your normal paper? I thought they had to be printed on security paper that can't be faked easily or reused? Theoretically you should be able to print out multiple copies and get more drugs than you have been prescribed..

        • On proper prescription forms and mailed to you.

@wxyz234: That would mean you have to wait for it to arrive.. If you're really sick today, I guess you're out of luck then?

        • +1

@lostn: you might want to see a Dr in person in that case.

    • Pretty common in rural hospitals.

      Short form of quack doctor?

      • You'd think it would be "Quactor" in that case ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

Whst an unfortunate business name… Combining "Q" with "doctor" makes me think "quack", not "quick".

My workplace does not accept sick certificates from online doctors šŸ™„

I didnā€™t think workplaces got a choice? If you have a certificate from an Australian doctor saying you are unfit for duty, youā€™re unfit for duty.

Our institute has a similar policy, where the employee must visit a physician 'in person'.

      • It's a company policy just introduced. They quoted FWA but cbf looking into it.

What a good way to destroy Medicare system quicker…

    • Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition…instead of driving to see my regular doctor (who I consult for all other health mattersā€, waiting as they are invariably late, then getting back less than half of the $76 it costs for a 15 min consult in order to get a carerā€™s certificate, I can get one for $20 via Skype. They still insist on speaking to the party being cared for to confirm itā€™s legit.

It'd be nice if legit patients used this service, but how easy it is to read sx for your favourite disorder - fever etc - and get a certificate as the thermometer doesn't work down a Skype pipe. Probably just as dodgy as any high turnover medical centre, though… unfortunately

  • Based on how I pronounce this, I assume it's a doctor for genitals?

  • Queue Dr Qoctor Nick. Hi Everybody!

  • You can get a medical certificate for work from a pharmacist.

  • be careful with these guys

if you order a paper prescription with 2 repeats for $19.99, you'd expect to get sent a paper prescription with 2 repeats on it. instead, they send you a prescription with no repeats, and the option to buy up to 2 repeats for $9.99 each.

when a doctor tells me "i'm writing you a prescription with 2 repeats", i expect a prescription with 2 repeats straight away. i don't expect to have to come back later and pay more to get the additional repeats.

"With Qoctor it doesn't cost you anything extra to obtain a prescription with repeats. The flat price of $19.99 applies, no matter how many repeats the prescription has."

"And when you ask us to send the Repeat to you, it's cheaper than a new prescription - Just $9.99 (+the cost of the medication if you choose that option) to get it issued and sent to you."

these two statements seem to contradict each other. my interpretation was that the first one applies to paper prescriptions and the second one applies to repeats when you want to buy the medication from qoctor. (ie. the $9.99 is really just the shipping fee for repeat medication)
