Anywhere Accepts Torn $ Notes? (without Mailing Back to RBA)

So the ATM spits out half split notes (split into 2 pieces)

Checked the web, it seems only RBA will exchange it by mailing back.

Any other places to go to? Banks?

Don't think the ATM will swallow back the torn notes.

Any bank will change for you - provided you have all the pieces

    sticky tape?

Just go to your bank and deposit them or exchange.

They will give you full value for 75 to 80% of a note. Anything less and they will send it off and give you a pro rata amount back.

stick it together with sticky tape and offload it in the Maccas drive through

No need to encourage people to give patronage to Maccas. A regular bank will help.

  • I've had notes that have been split in two and stuck back with sticky tape.

Never had anyone/shop refuse the bill on the basis that it's been re-joined.

As others point out, a regular bank branch will help you out.

I recently changed split $5 note (received from Aldi) at CBA. They changed it on the spot.
Two years back, I accidentally burnt 2 X $50 notes. I took half burnt and ash to CBA. They posted it back to RBA. After three months, i got my $100 back into the account.

How does one accidently burn $50 notes? :O

      • Accidents happen. Notes fell on candle. It was just for few secs and half of the notes were burnt.

  • I have found the banks will exchange as long as both the serial numbers are either on the damaged note or if in pieces as long as the serial numbers are on both
