Which venue? Hoyts LUX or Events Gold Class

Movies venu suggestions please LUX (Hoyts) or Gold Class (Events) Closest is Liverpool or Wetherill Park both in Sydney. We are a family of 5 with no other family to spend Christmas with and I (mum) am thinking it would occupy our day BUT which cinema would offer the best deal.. or value for us as we range from adult to 12 years 🙃🙃

None. Both not worth the money. They overcharge for minuscule amounts of food and drink. Don't think the kids would enjoy the "enhanced" experience.

You can buy vmax for better experience and do activities before and after the movie. E.g have a family lunch, go movies then arcade/bowling in the afternoon.

If kids are into sport, go to a park. Ride a bike or play some basketball. Have snacks on hand when they get hungry.

    • Christmas day so not sure what is open and the only 'kid' is 12 years so she is past play at the park age. ☺ thank u

      • No one is too old for the park. They aren't restricted to playing on the equipment. They can ride a bike, play basketball, soccer, frisbee etc. You can bring board and card games too. Can even go to a park for a walk and explore. There's also free BBQ stoves at the park so you can cook.

        • Yeh like the way you think but my 12 year old and 16 year old and 23 year old children will not show much interest if I suggest the park and then a movie 😕 but thanks for the link to vmax

    • What is vmax? ☺

  • Hoyts. I don't think there's LUX at Wetherill Park but all the seats there in the cinemas are reclinable and leather. And there's definitely no Gold Class at Liverpool. You'll have to go to Parramatta if you want Gold Class.

    • Ok thank u I must have misread the web site. ☺

      • I've only tried Lux at Hoyts Wetherill Park and the food wasn't worth it imo. But the seats were pretty big and nice.

I'd only do it with a special deal.

I like Gold Class as a treat. On Christmas day I doubt you will find any deals as public holidays are usually excluded. The cost of the food is the biggest expense my wife and I typically spend around $120 on food (2 dishes and a side) and 2 cocktails each.

AAMI members have the cheapest Gold Class tickets I know of, at $20 for sessions Mon-Wed

Thanks for clarifying, I meant that second sentence as an FYI for days (other than public holidays).

        • Thank u I don't have health insurance so unless I can randomly find a membership number….☺☺☺☺

I've never experienced Gold Class but I reguarly go to Hoyts Lux (Enterainment Quarter, Sydney) for big films. I love the experience. Worth noting some are better than others i.e. The one I attend has recently been refurbished. The food is pretty poor quality & expensive. However, I usually opt for Nachos though, which is pretty difficult to mess up.
Free popcorn & coke is a nice touch. Seats very comfy. Optus provide discounted Lux tickets if with them.
