For each day that you vote, you will get a Steam Awards Trading Card.

Voting for each category is open for 24 hours, starting and ending at 10am Pacific Standard Time. A different award category is available for voting on each day.

If you collect the full set of Steam Award Trading Cards, you can craft the cards into a Steam Award badge. This badge, and each additional level, earns you Steam XP.

  • Is it even worth getting a higher steam level? Can make a good amount of profit selling cards.

      Higher Steam level increases your booster pack drop rate. More booster packs = more cards. But you've first got to craft them badges to increase your XP. :)

      • Anyone know at what level it makes a difference though? I'm at level 27 (since I sell most of my cards) and have maybe gotten two booster drops over the years. Hardly seems to make a difference.

        • The time and effort you put in isn't really worth it. I think the rate goes up 40% every 10 levels. SteamTradeMatcher is good for swapping cards with others, but only does it for individual sets.

    • Unless you're one of those dudes with lv100 on steam with 1000+ games then you'll rarely get card drops and even then it'll take time to collect and sell cards to buy games with

    • Sell the cards on the market, probably get 25cents or so a day.

    This is cool for anyone that likes this sort of thing. Personally I hate the cards thing. I'm old, kids, employed.. just not worth my time.

    I hate a lot of what has come with gaming since the days of social media/online sharing. Cards. Gamer XP. Achievements (there's about 1%, like the gnome in HL2, that are truly cool and worth having. The other 99%.. who cares if I used the shotgun 50 times in uncharted?). IAP (although if done fairly IAP is fine). DLC. Oh, and GRINDING - BLEH! These things just aren't adding to my gaming experience. As someone who is an OCD completionist I have to control myself to ignore them, but my condition and the fact they are there is actually subtracting from my enjoyment.

    I just want a "let me disappear" option on every system/platform and fairness in Original/IAP/DLC pricing.

    • …yeah basically these cards things for people who have lots of spare time on their hands (not old(Or I guess age doesn't really matter…hahaha), no kids, unemployed, etc.)

      There was a gnome in HL2? I was not aware of that on my playthrough…..

      Yeah I agree with you on some of the achievements, like you fired 1000 bullets and those sorts of lame ones….

      WHat's IAP?

      Grinding mainly only exists on RPGs….so if you're an RPG sort of person…….yeah….but it can become some form of an achievement once you come out of it and get whatever it is you wanted out of it….if you managed to stay long enough…hahahaha

      Oh god, them OCD completionists…….good luck trying to get all those achievements(some of which are impossible because they've been removed or something, I remember reading one game that had such if for your profile to look good with 100% achievements on every game, except that, because you can't really do it because something was removed…)……

        The difference is RPGs are built from the ground up to incorporate grinding as part of the game, or at least as a viable strategy to progress, and therefore feels a lot more natural and rewarding. When companies shoehorn in artificial grinds into all these genres of games where they don't belong in order to pressure players into paying for microtransactions, the grind feels incredibly contrived and largely ruins the gameplay experience.

        Microtransactions are the worst thing to ever happen to gaming, not just because it's a shameless cash grab, artificially walls off content that otherwise would have been in the base game and entices children into gambling(lootboxes) but due to the fact it fundamentally alters the way games are designed, oft ruining them in the process.

    • There was actually a faster method using javascript, which basically makes you go from the start of the queue, to the end just like that without needing to tediously wait going through each of the 10 items per discovery queue…

      Of course if I had it, I would share it, but I don't….I just only know it's possible from seeing someone else do it…

  • For someone who has a small source of income now up from basically zero a few years ago this seems very tedious now but I like voting in the awards and learning about new games these days through the discovery queue since I don't have time to keep up with everything like before and there is an absurd amount of content now and forever exponentially expanding.. it's fun I guess but it does take up a lot of time.. l
    Anyone know how many unique badges there are now this event I might try get at least level one.

    • …over 2000….have fun creating 2000 badges for this….if you want to be a completionist and get all the levels…
