Boxing Day 4K TV Sales?

Hi all,

I'm going to be looking to pick up two 4K TVs around the 65" mark. One for myself, one for my parents.

I've never really done or got into boxing day sales so I'm hoping to hear from those who have participated in previous years.

I'm selling my current TV tomorrow to put towards the new one but it's risky if the deals aren't that great.

Will they be decent, do you think? The Samsung 65" for $1498 a few days back to me would be the sort of deal that I'm after on boxing day.

Reckon we will see anything similar?

Cheers!

As much i believe that Boxing Day is a little advertising fluff, in my view, yes you can score a good deal after my experience "on certain items"

I purchased a 4K TV around mid Dec last year and it was $144 cheaper on Boxing Day.

    Here are my tips:

1 - Research a range of 65" TV's that you really like and are affordable for you. Check online with other retailers and have an idea of the price of the same model you like.
2 - On Boxing day, GET IN EARLY!—- so ensure you do this! Even get up early and look online JB, HN, GG prices. If you prefer a particular retailer - get in opening time. Stock will be limited.
3 - STILL HAGGLE!——- don't be embarrassed to haggle … even if they are heavily discounted. It doesn't hurt to ask nicely.
4 - Watch for online sales. If they are really cheap, factor delivery times which may be in the early new year. No point of getting a bargain but have to wait a month! Electronics' prices depreciate quickly.

    Good luck

    Cheers

    • Thanks for that. Also, I'm never afraid to haggle so no issues there :D

      Cheers

    • Any advice on how you go about haggling? Is it just a matter of asking what's the lowest price they can go to? And then acting really hesitant, maybe leaving if it's not low enough?

Well, I'm not a haggling expert. But I can provide what I would recommend and have experienced.

Generally on normal sales, find the SAME item that is cheaper locally online and provide them with evidence.
I guess the most important point is that is to develop an immediate rapport with the sales person (if possible) and show them respect when you haggle.
Even asking them nicely if they can do better and don't lie about a better price on the same item if there isn't. This is subjective however they may challenge you to provide evidence or actually honour it.

They are out there to sell and generally they can move a little off the price i believe.

Even if something has been heavily discounted, you can still ask nicely. Respect goes a long way. If they cannot do a better price then accept it and not make a fuss. You can always go somewhere else if available.

If they cannot, then ask them if they can throw something in; that's depending on what you are intending to purchase.
For example, I have purchased a Miele Dishwasher a few weeks ago. Usually outlets don't discount the Miele lines however one outlet was nice enough to throw in a box of Dishwashing tablets. It is not much but it saves me buying it and is a requirement to use.

        Cheers

  • Boxing day deals are normally advertised on Christmas day so you can do your research before the day starts. Note that since retailers keep adding excuses for sales throughout the year, boxing day sales are normally along the same lines - good but rarely great!

    • Thank you. Just a bit worried about selling my TV today then not having one for ages if boxing day sales suck.

  • Yeah im looking to do the something. only want one 65inch oled. Definitely wanna take advantage of sale etc.. around this time of the year.

  • I'm looking for a deal on the kd65x9000e and nothing.. Boxing day flop

    • Any luck with 9000E

      • None really..
