So im just curious after hearing about the hail storm recently in Victoria causing alot of damages to property and in particular cars, how can I go about buying some decent cars that just have the cosmetic hail damage?
I understand you can buy the car off your insurance if you have comprehensive and been paid out, but I'm just someone purely looking for those cars the insurance companies are now trying to get rid of that no one wants to buy back.
Any thoughts or ideas?

@Slippery Fish: That Landcruiser actually looks like a Fallout 4 derelict.
no deal, it has no keys…….
The reason insurance companies take the car is if it’s deemed not economical to repair.
It can become a reparable write off which you will need to meet certain standards to allow it to be re registered.
Also resale value is terrible.
Personally I’d steer clear unless you really know what you are doing.
Most reparable write offs are sold at Auctionswhy would u buy one ? it would be nearly impossible to every insure again.
I'd be fine just getting 3rd party only
Check insurance, a few of the majors will decline any insurance with existing hail damage.
Track car?
The cars coming through are ones that have been picked through by professionals and nobody wanted. By chance if there is something decent that has come through because it has to be auctioned (legal requirement), it's quite obvious when the auctions are rigged, they slam the hammer on their mates bids without giving joe blow a chance. If you are sceptical, go, watch a few times and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Check out here for the salvage auctions at Manheim, this is where most of the hail-damaged vehicles show up after the insurance process.
