Purchased iPhone from eBay Apple Store Exchange?

I was told that when you have issues with Apple products you are able to get it exchanged at the Apple store is this true?

Since I purchased an iPhone X on eBay, but realised that 64Gb ain’t enough, sending it back to the sender would cost me.

Will Apple do an exchange, as I’m gonna be paying the difference anyway, also it is there stock.

  • Doubt an Apple store would let you do it, especially if it is grey stock.

Call their support line 1-300-321-456 and find out.

  • Apple has a 14 day returns policy if you are not happy with your product. Very unlikely that Apple will let you return your phone to them given you didn't buy from them. You can try, maybe you will get lucky!

  • It is local stock from ausluck and I’m only doing an upgrade not a refund!!!

I’m almost 100% sure they won’t just let you to do an upgrade…

  • Well there is a serial number on the box thought they can scan or use that to confirm the stock is local? And the stock does belong to them, thought it comes with Apple warrenty isn’t this covered as well.

thought it comes with Apple warrenty isn’t this covered as well.

You can exchange things at Apple if there are things like defects or faults, not if you bought the wrong storage size.

I'd say your only real option in trying to get a 256gb iPhone X would be selling your 64gb and buying the 256 separately.

99% sure you won't be able to do an upgrade if you did not buy it from an Apple store.
But do call to confirm for yourself.
Yes it does come with Apple warranty (if and ONLY if it's local stock), warranty covers faults and failure.
What you are after is change of mind return/upgrade.
It's like buying a TV at JB Hifi and then try to return it at Harvey Norman, same model or not, they simply won't entertain the idea.

  • Whilst Apple does offer a ‘change of mind’ policy for its products, this only extends to goods it sells. This period is also extended for goods purchased in the lead up to Christmas each year.

As you’re not the original purchaser, likely won’t have the original proof of purchase from Apple, and your device may not have been purchased through Apple anyway - whomever told you this obviously doesn’t have any idea what they’re talking about.

You’ll need to work with whomever you’ve purchased the device from for an exchange or refund.

Failing that, you may be able to take advantage of the trade up program, this is capped at AUD 560, so you may take an even bigger loss.

Apple might accept the old phone as trade in but you wont get what you paid for it. If its still sealed your best bet is the same ebay store you bought from. Remember you are not entitled to refund for change of mind unless the seller states this.

  • Apple will offer 14 day policy for products it sells directly, since you bought through another retailer you will need to speak to that retailer.

  • Just work on managing your phone with the storage you chose. Plenty of options available.

  • Any update on this?

    • I'm also waiting on an update
