Can anyone recommend or give tips for repossession, fleet, or government car auctions?

So much this.
The good stuff goes through manheim/pickles. The mechanical rejects go through grays…
My only advice (from a third party, I've only been an observer)…
Tread lightly, set yourself a limit & stick together… I've seen some amazing instances of auction fever…
One instance (a much smaller scale), we were at a hospitality clearing auction and were bidding on some condiment bottles, bundled with some pepper & salt shakers… Mum noticed an opposing bidder and approached her, they quickly came to an agreement and worked out that we'd split the auction & take our respective items… Sure enough.. This lot went for double what we were expecting…
Then there's the other end of it, where I sold an untested, unwarranted rock drill for $110k…
Auctions don't necessarily mean bargains, just potential diamonds in the rough.how much did you pay for this rock drill is the real question ;)
It was dumped for zilch, it cost me about $1k to get a tech on site and get it running well enough to drive it on to a flat top and about a week to get it clean (less than 40 hours, but two of those me chucking on a sperm suit and helping out)… This was one of those, "If you knew what big companies threw away…" moments….
Only do it if you're somewhat mechanically minded
