Can anyone recommend a really good Italian restaurant in Melbourne? It's to celebrate a birthday.
Grazie :)

Er no! Unless you enjoy Kraft Parmesan
Tipo 00
DOC
DOC was the one I was thinking of but couldn't remember the name.
OP try DOC
Go to the DOC in Carlton, not the one in Albert Park. Went there a couple of weeks ago, and was very let down by their service and food.
+1 DOC
+1 Tippo00
+39 grade pizza
Gemma's
Ciao Mamma
Vapiano
Not vapiano. It's a worldwide chain and horrible food and cafeteria style eating so isn't really a a good place for good service. But I wholeheartedly agree with DOC, Tipo 00 and +39 Pizzeria.
I would rate Tipo00 above DOC
Took my partner to Scopri for her birthday.
Changed my life. Absolutely delicious.
Take the lucky birthday boy/girl to Subway and get the meatball sub for that authentic Italian experience - and for true OzBargain spirit make sure you get the 2 for $10 deal.
don't forget Italian herbs and spices
Pizza Hut, it’s the most authentic in Melbourne
Il Solito Posto
Scopri
Dey do good seafood pasta!
Tipo 00
Trattoria Emilia
SPQR
DOC (they have several pizza locations and one pasta location)
Not a fan of SPQR or DOC at all.
Yes to Tipo 00 and Il Solito Posto. Best in town IMO.
Lygon st maybe? University cafe?
