in true OzBargain style, we have booked tickets on budget airline AirAsia for our holidays in Jan. We are seated at back of the plane, and i heard that it can get noisy at back of plane, particularly on budget airlines.
travelling with 2 kids, 6 & 8 year old. looking for a pair of headphones for them to use on the Ipad, to drown out the noise.
can anyone recommend a pair of affordable headphones suitable for kids?

I recommend avoiding on-ear headphones (which most kids ones seem to me). My son who is 7 can't/won't wear them for long at all.
He prefers my pistons (in-ear), my sennheisers or my wife's qc25s (both over-ear).
Maybe the Aldi Bluetooth ones or similar? Cordless would presumably be a big advantage.
You need headphones that fit properly so no noise escapes to annoy other passengers also you need to either get ones that tou can set to max as mentioned above or have to watch them like hawks so they don't blow their eardrums pot
Take away the electronic toys and give em colouring books they'll end up with sore ears over a long flight esp if they have in ear plugs and a sensitivity to air pressure changes
