    ?

Edit: Oh, it’s an app. Little more info would have been nice (post now edited)

    • An explanation…
Download app from link in deal or go to Play / Apple,
      register Runtastic account if necessary,
click upgrade button in deal - easiest way & don't need code
(don't upgrade in app, unless you use that code - otherwise it's $1.99!)
      Shows you've been upgraded.

Place phone on bed, start app, sleep😴, wake & see the stats. Phone will detect changes in movement to give indication of sleep state - so be aware you are being monitored😉

Probably similar to Sleep as Android I've used years ago.

Should integrate with other Runtastic apps.

But doubt I'll use it - as use a Fitbit Flex2 (with some of the sleep monitoring & none of the hassle) free from UTAS deal. Don't really want to sleep with my phone😴

Saves $1.99 if you were going to upgrade👍

Phone will detect changes in movement to give indication of sleep state

Which is a terrible way to measure sleep.

        • for once I agree with you!!

What were you expecting from a phone app? Just think of the type of data from the limited sensors it has to interpret how you slept.

Most people only are interested in a general overview of their sleep, not a full medical report. So an app is a good starting point.

My explanation of the operation of this app was simplified to give a basic understanding of how to use the app.

Diji1, how do you measure sleep?
What are your recommendations of how a phone could give a better indication of sleep patterns & present it in an easy to understand form? Others have tried.

Full sleep studies require multiple sensors applied to the scalp - not an easy way to sleep. Then the information needs some serious data processing & professional interpretation. That's expensive (may be bulk billed with referral) & this is currently free!

This is a sports app - used in conjunction with other Runtastic exercise apps - to build up a more complete impression (does your quality or length of sleep - usually taken as amount of REM state indicated by no muscle movement, improve with various exercise, length or level of exertion, etc).

It provides a basic indication of sleep patterns (which are associated with muscle movement) over night. It is not a medical instrument. See the information in the app!

Similar method is used by other phone apps. Found Sleep as Android & it's stats were useful for general idea of sleep pattern. It also recorded any noise (snoring) which can be helpful for indicating that a sleep disorder needs investigating.

There's probably little more a phone can currently do. If there are serious sleep problems, see your Dr. An overnight sleep study may be necessary.

        • I miss the Zeo :(

        • @gilbarc:
The headband with electrodes is the way to go for much better data collection. Data was stored & interpreted by the company (far superior) - it failed years ago.

But was not free like this app😉

In the mean time, maybe give this free app (or similar app / worn fitness tracker) a go? It won't be near as good, but most people don't need the depth of data & interpretation supplied by the Zeo.

Hopefully the integration with sports apps will give a different type of interpretation & be useful for some.
I've never seen any need for healthy people to monitor their sleep beyond a general overview given by apps (& certainly not every night).

      • Cheers. Original post and title had like, almost absolutely nothing to say what it was or what the deal was.

        • See the app for details. Just posted my limited understanding - I haven't used it.

  • Confusing yet satisfying at the same time

Ok on IOS devices here are the steps to make it easier for some…

Open App and register (dont upgrade as member - Infidel - above has already warned)
Then in app click on gear icon (settings)
You will find a menu with 6 items.
Go to the 4th item "runtastic" and click on that
You will get further menu of 6 items
Select the second from the bottom (Promotion code)
It will prompt you to "enter your promotion code"
Enter the code in caps as found on the website the OP linked (SLEEP2017)
And you unlock all sleep better benefits

My guess its similar on Android… maybe someone can confirm

  • Anyone here use sleep as android? Curious about how it compares.

  • Used a sleep app for a week. Gave me a score of 6 out of 100. Recorded me rolling over about 6 times… No idea how that helps with sleep. Deleted.
