Where to Stay in Singapore?

We have a 1 night/1 day stopover in Singapore. The main thing we want to do is visit Gardens by the Bay and eat huge amounts of good and reasonably priced food.

Where's the best area for us food wise? Any reasonably priced hotel recommendations in the same area and hopefully not too far from Gardens by the Bay as well?

  • What is your budget? This will dictate the accommodation side of things.

    • About $150/night.

      • For only 1 night, maybe find accommodation near the Clarke Quay / Boat Quay / Robertson Quay areas. A Google search shows quite a few around that price in that area, and most should be ok (check the reviews).
The riverside area is packed with every type of food option, and costs, with a mixture of tourists and locals every night. All within walking distance.
It is a short taxi ride across to Gardens by the Bay.

  • Our favourite hotel is marina mandarin hotel.

    we have also stayed at
    - royal plaza on scotts which has a kick ass seafood buffet
    - park regis clark quay
    - orchard parade hotel, orchard road.

if you are only staying one day it wouldn't matter very much where you stay as you have a few things you want to visit and see on the day and catch a taxi to them.. Singapore is pretty small and a taxi can get you there pretty quickly,

    • Another thumbs up for the buffet at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts.

  • This is where we always stay
rooms from 134 SG a night
    Amazing staff
nice and easy to get around (walk to trains etc)

  • Depending your arrival and departure time. If you arrive early in the morning, and leaving early the next morning, you could do a whole day trip in singapore, then go back and stay in the airport, e.g. Free Lounge access if you have certain credit card, or 6 hours of airport hotel for less than SGD$100.

  • gaylang 10. can buy plenty of reasonable things there and rent a room by the hour

  • I like the Albert Court Hotel for its price and service. It's a very short walk to Little India and the Bugis area, and a short MRT ride from the Little India MRT station to Chinatown, Orchard Road and Gardens By The Bay (via the Downtown Line).

  • We have stayed at Marina Bay Sands which is directly opposite the gardens for one night but very very pricey. Wanted to swim in the amazing pool. Try AirBnB. Friends stayed there even though they are clamping down in Singapore and found apartments were more reasonable than hotels/motels.

  • Check out Hilton Serangoon, 5 mins walk from little India mrt, few stops from marina bay or Chinatown. Near geylang as well.
