For a very long time I have been purchasing Woolworths egift cards via Cashrewards, the turn around time regularly takes no more than 2-4hours, but the last few purchases it has taken more than 15hours I had to give them a ring them a buzz and they put me ahead of the line and within 10mins I got my egift cards.
Does anyone know how their gift cards work or is it automated system?
What I meant was egift cards purchased online can take up to 24hours to get emailed but recently taking longer or not even getting it untill I resolve the matter over the phone.
i ordered some today from cashrewards, took 3 hours
never taken longer than that

I bought through the entertainment book yesterday, took around 16 hours I think (purchased on Sunday).
I have a feeling the delay is intentional. Otherwise if it was instant, you could just buy the Egift card with the exact amount just before checkout.
Remember, they make money when people don't spend the full amount on Egift cards and eventually forfeiting the amount on expiration.
I would imagine it's automated. Are you suggesting someone manually emails you your Egift card?

The only two times it took longer than a few hours was when I used an international credit card to pay. I'm pretty sure it was flagged during the automated processing and someone had to manually approve it (someone contacted me the first time, I sent an email the second time). I buy the max possible ($500).
Every time I use a new credit/debit card it takes 24 hours. If I purchase using a card that I used previously, the gift card is emailed within 5 hours.
Normally comes in 2-3 hours for me (ordered over 50 of them before), but ordered yesterday 3pm, still nothing…
Same CC and same account, very annoying, missed a shopping trip last night and looks like im paying full price for Aus day bbq!

I'm not sure what you mean by "how their gift cards work or is it automated system"; I've used a Woolies POS and we just scan the barcode, put the amount in, take that payment and activate the card by sliding it thru the EFTPOS. There's not really anything about the process that would make you think it's not automated when you do it IRL; I don't really know about the Cashrewards angle tho.
