  • Just signed up and got confirmation!

  • Hi I would like to apply as well, but I'm having difficulties trying to sign up. I get to the page and it asks me to pay me to pay?

    • it asks you to pay $0.00, just choose direct deposit and that's it. It'll show you owe $0.00, which is nothing.

  • is this free for 1 year or forever??

  • Hi,

    Its free forever :)

You don't need to pay however you must select a payment method, it's just part of our order system that we can't over ride. Just select Direct Deposit as the payment method.

    Thanks,
    Ijan

  • Thanks! Much appreciated for the great offer.

  • i currently have a id.au without hosting, just free e-mail hosting from google apps/zone edit

which option do i select on the first signup page/

this wont stuff up my current e-mail accounts on that id.au domain?
does the e-mail still get access via the same way?
    thanks

  • So, do we just select direct deposit? how many years btw? and is this completely free? it still says $19.95 AUD

  • Thank you for the offer. Love your phone verification system as well ;-)

  • Hi Skynt,

Are you following the order link in the blog post? You may be trying to also purchase a domain name, we provide a free sub domain but not free domains :)

    Thanks,
    Ijan

  • Just signed up also :)

Do we have to wait a few days for the order to process?

  • Thanks! i figured out how to do $0 payment, by removing one of the boxes. so this site really lasts forever for us?

    Hi

djpro - We've got one person processing them as they come through, if an order is submitted after 5pm today it will then be processed tomorrow.

skynt - Yes the Freedom100 hosting account on offer is free and we won't charge your it, ever :)

    Thanks,
    Ijan

    • Signed up, sounds good…..automated call for authentication cut out after picking up….see what happens.

      • they ring you again in next minute

        • no, not any other calls….is there another way to get activation code?

  • sorry for being a noob. my account just got accepted and i am able to login, but how do i get a site up and running? i tried to go to the url i registered but it doesnt work. thanks

    Hi skynt,

We have a bunch of tutorials on cPanel available on our website that should be helpful to you - http://www.crucial.com.au/support-tutorials.php

We're not providing websites we're offering free web hosting accounts so people can upload their own websites to the web, without the cost of a web hosting account.

    Thanks,
    Ijan

    • good bunch of tuts guys, thanks :)

  • Oh ok. it says that we get 10 Email Accounts, how do we get them? Thanks!

  • You can only choose "free subdomain" right ? Otherwise you need to pay to register for a new .com.au domain ?

  • I dont have a domain name yet…I need time to come up with one
Can I just join up for a hosting account first (without my own domain name)?

    Thanks

  • Just signed up. Looks pretty good I suppose. Shame about having to use cPanel.

The phone verification thing was a bit funny, but I suppose it works too. (Automated voice message rather than a real person verifying)

  • Hi Crucial

i currently have a id.au without hosting, just free e-mail hosting from google apps/zone edit

which option do i select on the first signup page/

    your phone confirmation sucks
i was confused what it was for because the automated voice could not be understood until i switched back to the sign up page and saw it required confirmation

    • Confirmation code didnt come through when I got the call.

cool story mates, i don't even see why i would get two negs for that. just stating the facts and my personal opinion providing valuable feedback mates.
      i guess haters gonna hate.(?)

      • i +ve your comment if that makes you happy ;)

  • Got an error when trying to access cPanel:

    This webpage is not available.

The webpage at https://s362.au.crucialx.net:2083/login/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

I had that sort of issue too. Had to switch off my local proxy and accept a 'unverified' ssl certificate.

      • mmm….sounds a bit dodgy…

        • No, the certificate is valid, it just means it hasn't been signed by a signing authority, rather it has been self signed. Your comms will still be encrypted after you accept it.

        • Cant believe someone neg me on this!! I'm just stating how I felt, and I'm NOT the only one who had this issue!!

        • Cant believe you got so worked up on this.

      • homer and cod - when you click the "login to cpanel" button, does the text directly above it read "Status: Pending"? Mine does and I too get the unverified ssl cert warning. Im guessing we are directed to the correct page with verified ssl cert once the status changes to confirmed or similar? Could the rep please confirm?

  • Hmmm did everything, no fone call :S

Cant log in to cPanel lol

    what do i do :(

    • i got the call a few seconds after submitting the form. but maybe because i was already a customer with them?

    • Rep says above that orders after 5pm will be done tomorrow, you might have just missed the cutoff for today?

  • I definitely got a phone call but maybe because I signed up as soon as I saw this ad.

  • Crucial Support is awesome. Great response time via email (remember - only if you are a paying customer as this is free, don't ask for too much).

Their sales team need work especially when handling clients.

Upstream provider is VOCUS and they are pretty good at what they do. Might have other interconnects I am not sure.

POSITIVING this vote because they are still awesome in delivering the service, and this is.. FREE.

  • Cheers, exactly what I was looking for when I came on OzB this evening.

  • Mmmm dont seem to have updated their scripts for punycode domains…

Thanks.. just signed up myself and will use my $1.19 AUD domain name from godaddy :)

  • awesome, i just signed up, now to work out how to make a website…

how do they make money/cover costs when its free???

  • just wondering…i have vnc set up at home..and a static ip…so atm, to access my server, i type in my ip. rather than use those free dns services, can i use the domain i created with crucial paradigm? I have a feeling the answer is no…

  • Cool Ijan! Can I host OzBargain here for free as well :)

    sold out?? :(

    • Sold out.

      • disappointed..

  • no php support?

  • +2

    Hello OzBargain,

I'll answer each question in line.

skynt - You need a domain name to use the email addresses, you can either bring your own domain or use a sub domain that we provide for free.

elegantegotist - Yes that correct another option is to migrate your own domain.

homersyd- Yes you can, just enter a domain name (real or not) just to get through the sign up process.

dmchart - You can select the third option, it wont affect your current domain unless you update your nameservers.

homersyd - You need to upload your website to the hosting account to view a webpage, the cPanel and FTP details are in the welcome email.

Bargains - Thanks for the good feedback. Our current providers are SecureIP, Vocus and we also have Equinix and Pipe Peering :)

Scotty - Of course you can haha but i please don't call me when the site is down! I'll see you at the Christmas party :)

I know some of you missed out so there are 100 more hosting accounts up for grabs.

    Regards,
    Ijan Kruizinga

    • Will the account become active without the Confirmation code?

    • Got one, thank you very much!

Now to think up a domain…

  • Got one last year, don't use it much, but its great when i do :)

  • +1

I got one and just used a subdomain (wranga - ironic since I'm a red-head!). I want to register my own .com.au but apparently one needs an ABN to do that in Australia… can I change my account from the abc.wranga.com.au address to the new .com.au I get in a short while?

And thanks very much for this kind offer, I'm really looking forward to using my new website.

    Cheers, Phil

  • Just signed up, thanks! Painless signup process.

Also, I was writing this comment to include the lack of dns settings in the emails and how I had to find them in the forum… When lo and behold, a third email pops through with the settings in it! Thanks Crucial :-)

My "New Account Information" email says I signed up to a Freedom250 plan at the top, but lower down it does say Freedom100.

    Hi,

cmdwedge - Yes you can, just get in touch with us once you're ready to make the switch.

Mossy - I believe the two accounts share the same email template and this is why it says Freedom 250.

    Thanks!
    Ijan

    • That's fantastic, thanks Ijan. What a generous offer this is!

  • sold out? "out of stock"

  • I got the verification phone call twice (the 2nd call had a different verification number to the 1st one I used) - and my account shows status as terminated!

    • Mine works, wish I got the $1.50 domain the other day though!

  • Thanks Crucial - got mine.

  • doh missed it again waiting for my answer :(

  • I missed out :( Shame, was such a great deal!

  • how do we make a sub domain? thx

  • Log into cpanel (yourdomainname.net.au/cpanel) scroll down to the domains section, click "Subdomains". done!
