Free Scoop of Ice Cream at Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shops - Monday, 11 December 5:30pm - 9:30pm

Love is Love!
It’s been a long and challenging battle for the Australian LGBTIQ community, but today we can celebrate that love has won. Just a few hours ago parliament passed the legislation to make marriage equality fair, just and legal. In an open vote in the House of Representatives, the majority of MPs voted in favor and the bill passed.

We said yes to marriage equality. And you did too! Over the last couple of months, you got your friends and family to vote and put pressure on our MPs to work for marriage for all. And from today, it is a reality - there is marriage equality in Australia! We thank you, because without your efforts to show your support and vote it would (most likely) not have happened!

What does this mean for Australia now?
Marriage equality is law and we can all now celebrate this victory. But this win doesn’t come lightly, with surveys showing that the postal vote led to a doubling in reported assaults. While we celebrate, we should keep in mind that there is still a journey ahead of us to ensure that our LGBTIQ friends don’t face discrimination.

Join us and celebrate with ice cream!
What better way to celebrate love than heading over to a Scoop Shop this Monday, 11 December between 5:30pm and 9:30pm for a Free Scoop Night! And what’s more, we’ve officially lifted the ban, so you can once again get two scoops of the same flavour.

Nope, we need a plebiscite to work out if you can have that popcorn ;)

Same I was interested, but then realised I have to go to their actual store..

Why can't I get free Ben and Jerry's at my local IGA? Lol.

    • +3

Love the tongue in cheek humour and marketing.

Why can't they bring Cherry Garcia to Brisbane?

    • +3

I've never heard her music, is she Latino?

    • +1

Cherry Garcia was one of my favorites but I think they discontinued it a few years back. I used to get it all the time when I was on my Crystal Cruise vacations but one year it suddenly disappeared and that was the excuse the staff told me.

They removed it from all the scoop shops in Melbourne that i've been to :( it was my favourite flavour. I wish they would sell it in pints because i'd buy the shit out of it.

  • Where's the store?

    Locations: http://www.benandjerry.com.au/ice-cream-near-me

    Only 1 Brisbane store showing:
    Sunnybank Plaza Shopping Centre

    • Wow. It would be good if they accepted this deal.

I'm all for treating every flavour of icecream equally. However, I don't understand why they haven't changed the definition of 'vanilla' to include every other flavour? Isn't it discriminatory to only allow icecream that's white and flavoured with the seeds of the vanilla bean to be identified as vanilla if it so wishes?
    After all, icecream is icecream!

    • +1

Agreed, there's even a white rapper named Vanilla Ice.

      • +1

He was born vanilla. I just don't get flavour fluidity, unless you've got a tub of neapolitan and your freezer is on the blink.

STFU and give me a scoop

    • +1

      Wait nicely until Monday😁

      • oh man! i was looking fwd to having it on the weekend when i go to the movies :-(

  • Is it one scoop, two scoops or unlimited ?

    • From their previous free scoop, its one scoop but you are allowed to queue again and get another scoop of ice cream.

      • Yay. Hope so. Anyone tried to go back to get another? Hard to decide which flavour :)

Predicting chaos at the Melbourne CBD store… wondering if I should join in or not ? Ice cream for dinner??

    • +2

So that you get a balanced diet, order a cone instead of a cup. That way you're guaranteed at least 2 food groups, 3 if you choose at least one fruity flavour.
BTW I'm not sure if chocolate counts as a serve of veg - it does come from the cocoa bean.

    • I'm wondering the same.
      How long is the queue?
Anyone who is or was there, updates on the queue would be greatly appreciated :)

      • +3

I just walked past the Melbourne CBD store and the line was about 50 metres long.

        • Thanks for the info, not going this time.

        • I'm guessing that's about half an hour queue.
          Thanks gofree :)

50% of this ice cream is made from the milk of male cows.

    • +2

Nice, that's why it has a nutty flavour.

    • +2

im triggered, they clearly identify as trans-cows and cow/bull dichotomy is obviously a social construct

  • +3

    What a gay deal.

  • Is Norwood included? How's the line up?

  • Just scored at Cavil Ave, QLD. Short line, yummy ice cream.

  • +1

    Not many people at Chaddy

Unexpectedly short queue at Melbourne CBD!

    • Note only one small scoop each. However queue so short I am going for my second scoop

      • +1

        Do they allow this hahaha

        • Well they sent me to the same stingy blonde who did the most smallest scoops ever so I was tempted to go for a third round…

  • +1

Thanks OP. Ice cream was delicious and hardly a queue at all.
