Noticed earlier that Ticketmaster have released a last-minute batch of "restricted viewing" seats for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performances of the score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The seats are rows A-D in the 'Orchestra' section right in front of the stage and designated as "restricted viewing," so presumably the screen/orchestra might be slightly obscured in this position. These performances are at the newly refurbished Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne.
The presentation itself is part of the Star Wars live-to-picture concert series, where the actual Star Wars film is projected with sound effects & dialogue while the orchestra performs the film's musical score (by John Williams) live on stage.
Tickets slightly further back in the front section are considered 'premium' and cost over $130 (and other seats go for over $150) so if you're prepared to sit close to the stage/orchestra then this is a bargain! There's only Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon performances remaining. Enjoy!
Running Times:
Doors: 6.30pm
Pre-Concert Talk: 6.45pm (30 mins)
Act One: 8.00pm
Interval: 9.00pm
Act Two: 9.20pm
The End: 10.30pm (approx.)
We just left. It was (profanity) brilliant. Nice to not be the only one clapping for a change.
