I think Amazon is more like miles ahead of Big W…
Amazon delivers cheaper price and easy delivery, at the expense of job loss to many Australians in retail business (coming soon 2018).
Would you like fries with that?
If the jobs are so easily replaced by new technology then why do we want to keep the jobs just for the sake of having jobs?
Yes yes, but my job! On the individual level its no doubt problematic, how do people survive/live and what will they do to fill their time. On a societal level it provides a decrease in menial labour in return for equal productivity and in turn allows people to spend their time on things they enjoy and love.
Now how to marry up less work and income with enough income to survive (if things become cheaper we need less money to do the same things etc). UBI seems the obvious choice.
No wonder they come to Australia, our unemployment rate are too low to compare other countries. It is because they caused or fried a lot of other industries staffs in US also UK, Japan and Germany.
Thanks to your logic we should praise our overly overpriced local retailers, lack of competitions and close to monopolies in each types of market aspect.
Years ago before email, post office claiming they are at lost of profits in letter because more people use email, post staffs are worry about getting sacks, what happen now ? You got more parcel than letters these days did anyone got sacks because they can’t delivery parcel or “missed you card” ? The more competitors on market are only good for consumers unless you’re not one of us and that’s why we are here at OZB.
Wake me up when the giant new Millennium Falcon is available.
