Parked in Front of Drainage Site- Got Fined for Parking on Footpath. Worth Contesting?

Parked in front of drainage site as I was doing work very close by. The only other place to park was the street which is very busy. Ranger came by and got a fine in the mail. $100.

Would it be worth contesting? They said it's a footpath that you parked on. They said you should have parked on the street and put some cones around.

Funny thing is I was there for a few minutes and was in the picture they took as evidence! Gosh darn it.

what's a drainage site? did it have a sign that said no parking?

    • Exactly. No context provided.

Potentially, OP meant a longitudinal swale drain. This can be common in some outer suburbs, but will usually have bollards to prevent drivers from parking on it. And if there are no concrete footpaths, then pedestrians may walk along/around it. But it's not officially labelled as a pedestrian area.

Upload the image onto hotornot with a lewd comment pretending to be the ranger… something like "Another good ass to pound" and then phone the ranger and ask why he uploaded and captioned the photo…
