Recently rented a new unit and found this attached to the wall. Must have been left by the previous tenants.

Can this be used for an internet cable line for Optus or is it for Optus tv only ? Quite confused..
I have checked online and it says that my unit is eligible for optus cable but not nbn
It says Optus Vision on the wall plate. Can it still be used for internet ?
If you are "lucky" one day that'll be your NBN connection.

Fat chance. NBN is no longer using the Optus cable (except for the small area they converted for a trial).

For my area the install date has always been "…" (and I'm in Sydney!), and it recently changed to "late 2018 using the Optus cable".
I'm not sure "nothing" to "Optus cable" is an improvement.

I think that link is talking about customers who have NBN access via the former Telstra HFC cable. I know people who have been forced to switch from Optus HFC to NBN HFC and they got a new HFC feed in.
Which is not to say that NBN haven't changed their mind about the Optus cable. If NBN has been consistent about anything, it's changing their mind.
optus HFC (cable) but that's one dodgy installer.. it's suppose to have a barrel between the wall plate and that cable..

Strange that it's a male connector, rather than female, and a very dodgey job with the connector not even fixed to the plate.
that's because the installer had no idea or he was out of these so made his own… I wonder how long the feed is to reach the tv then when you are done you can retract it back into the wall like a vacuum. LOL
