Dick Smith 80cm (32") High Definition LCD TV - $329 (In-Store Only)

110

Cheapest price I've ever seen. Good luck find one in your area; all DSE stores in my vicinity are virtually sold out, according to the online store stock levels.

"The Dick Smith 80cm (32") High Definition LCD TV features built-in HD DVB-T tuner and widescreen 16:9 display. Suppoting MPEG 2 file format, this Dick Smith LCD TV offers AV stereo and VGA input for computer connections."

Good price, however stock sees non-existent. No capital cities (at least the 10 stores closest to each CBD Postcode) have stock with the exception of Hobart.

    • try western sydney suburbs

  • It'd be pretty hard to find, they've essentially been replaced with the newer $398 32" TV's.

I know my work doesn't have these anymore.

  • It has VGA input for computer connections but the display is only interlaced at 1080i.
Apparently, one reviewer complained that the built-in tuner is slow in changing station (takes 5 seconds); not an issue if you already owned a decent STB, I suppose.

The alternative from DSE is a newer 32" LCD model for $398 which does progressive scan at 1080p.

The specs are confusing which seem to show that both tuners only display 1366 x 768.

      Looks good, but a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 /= 1080p

      • As I said, the specs are confusing, they imply that the TV is capable of displaying 1080i/p but the in-built tuners only outputs 1366 x 768. It that is the case, it means you need a different input source e.g. a full-HD STB or blu-ray player to display full-HD.

An excellent plan with only two drawbacks:-

      1. It is not available to order online, and 2. It is not available to order online.

(Red Dwarf line, no offence intended)

I think I need to wake my wife up… Local store has limited stock… Good replacement for our aging CRT…

  • +1

wow LCD's are now rock bottom they have replaced CRT's as the norm now and no reason for anyone to ever buy a CRT :)

  • found one but it is floor stock… wonder how many days, weeks and hours it has been running??? Doubt if they would offer further discount.. Still worth buying??

    • Possibly, at this price. See if you can negotiate an extended warranty for cheap, just to cover your purchase.
