Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ / Note 8 Fast Charger

Hello everyone,

Just curious to see if anyone has alternative brand names for fast chargers compatible with these phones? The cheapest I can find on mobileciti for an official fast charger was $40 which seems a bit dear. Has anyone bought an alternative charger recently?

I am finding the battery life on these phones to not live up to my expectation. I wouldn't call myself a heavy user.

  • "Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ / Note 8" and $40 is dear for a Samsung charger which cost $139 at Kogan?

    I'm sorry.

  • I bought one from this Ebay seller, $16.90 with delivery. Came with fast charge cable. I am sure it's probaby not genuine but I am not sure? Works fine though!

I am sure it's probaby not genuine

There were a couple of deals in these forums for wireless Samsung chargers a couple of years ago from a particular eBay seller. Some of them turned out to be fake chargers. The prices were cheap, but not too-good-to-be-true cheap and there were a number of other eBay sellers selling around the same price so it was difficult to pick out which ones could potentially be fake without actually buying one.

I've wanted some extra charging adaptors, but I've been put off getting them from eBay for the above reason.

It's possible that some of the "cheaper" ones could be genuine - someone could be working in a service centre and auctioning off the excess charges they may receive from the manufacturer as part of warranty, but not pass on to the customer.

  • What's wrong with the one it comes with?

Nothing - I want to charge mine at work and home (as I am sure most people who want an extra charger do)

      • Yeah, definitely would help to have a second one for office.

  • I've bought a few of these cheapo fast chargers off of ebay. Less than $3. Only decent for pairing with a wireless charger imo as you'd need to get an adaptor because theyre US plugs only. Works for me though as I do take trips to the US regularly. I like to pair them with the Blitzwolf BW-FWC1.

They get hot though but charge just fine, these power all my Qi chargers. There are alternatives with AU plugs for around $6+ though I think.

  • Just get one from Banggood! I've bought one that has dual USB outs, 2.4amp and the other is quick charge 3 compatible. Works great you just have to wait for it to be delivered from China that's all. Australian plug and less than AU$15. Just search blitzwolf BW-S6 QC 3.0+2.4A on Bangood and make sure you choose au plug

  • Nearly all of them on Ebay that are advertised as genuine are still fake. That's why they don't come with proper packaging, not simply "to save on shipping."
The obvious ones are missing the RCM mark (http://www.comtest.com.au/compliance/the-regulatory-complian…). The less obvious fakes may still have it but I can guarantee that they are still most likely fake. Without tearing the charger down, you can often tell by the amount of charge they output which you can measure using Apps like Galaxy charging current. One "Genuine" Samsung fast charger I bought on ebay made a very loud, high pitch whine as soon as you plugged it in and could barely manage to charge the advice and would only get to about 400ma.
