Do You Think It's Fair/Ethical to Share Employee Only Discounts with OzBargain?
Of course we all love a bargain, but what are your views on sharing steals intended for staff use only?

Just asking for opinions for future reference. I don't have a particular deal to offer at this time
Are you asking because you intend to share deals or you want others to share deals with you?
I think all employee-only deals should remain just that. Especially if the deals are quite generous - I'm of the opinion they shouldn't be abused.
There's also the "affiliate" deals that are usually much smaller discounts. For eg, the previous Virgin Australia codes that allow 10% off if booked more than 21 days prior. They seem to hand those same deals with different codes to employees of a number of companies as a promotional thing. Or the Hertz car hire codes etc.
The companies don't seem to care who uses those codes.
It is unethical.
Most businesses wouldn't be happy with non-employees taking advantage of their generosity to their employees. I think they would be less likely to offer discounts to their employees in the future.
i haven't seen any employee only deals posted on ozbargain, they need to be available to everyone otherwise will get unpublished
but what are your views on sharing steals intended for staff use only?
OP - you are not a poker player I gather?
Nope :)
Definitely not ethical. Been dozens of times where they've been posted here and companies have pulled the deal. Means the employees who could have genuinely taken advantage of the deal miss out and makes OzBargain itself look bad.
You ruin it for the rest of your colleagues as it may get cancelled. Plus you could / should get fired
To ask the question in the first place suggests that one should question your workplace ethics
is this post in relation to the puma staff only codes?
pm the code and share with me instead, lol. vice versa.
It's the company's fault by not implementing any security. If they wanted to really make it staff-only you would have to scan a barcode from a name tag or security pass to get the deal (and be one only per staff member). Or something like that.
What if they were OK with the odd share by staff to non employees, but unprepared for the ozbargain effect? Employee deals should not go on a public huge site like ozbargain
Then it's their fault for not understanding how the internet works :-p
If they only wanted it redeemed a set number of times per staff member they could program that in
Hi there.
Are there any forum discussions/sites where people are happy to share their employee discount between each other.
You buy this for me with your discount and I'll buy that for you with my discount arrangement.
Im often buying things wondering how much discount would these employees get.
We have made friends with a couple of people in other stores and have bought for each other. I'm looking to expand my cirle of bargain friends in Melbourne.
what does the business t&c state? are they ok with it?
