You'd be nuts to be that surely?? $2k for an auto tamper machine?!!
Would love a nice Reg Barber tamp, but don't have the $ for it right now..

    • Yea but don't forget free shipping… bargain!

      • Cheaper than training 5 casuals to cover one shift and still getting a crap shots? :-D

    • I am a strong advocate for a puqpress. It may seem unnecessary, but it offers a huge number of benefits.
      1. Every tamp is perfectly flat at a consistent pressure. This entirely removes a variable from the process of making espresso. It is already a nightmare trying to control all the variables of brewing espresso, so this makes a huge difference. Furthermore, get a flat tamp base to the exact width of your basket. You can’t damage the base by dropping it because it’s in a machine.
      2. Severely reduces RSI in baristas working in commercial settings. Tamping is not a natural action, and even when you learn to tamp properly by using your upper arm and shoulder as opposed to your wrist and back, baristas still suffer from RSI ain their wrist and pains in their back from a weird exertion of force.
In combination, a puqpress creates space in the workspace, is more efficient and consistent than a barista, and is so much better for their health. Every cafe I know that has one would drop $2k on it again without question.

      • "Every cafe I know that has one"

I have never seen one in any café….

        • Some do!
In WA… Chu Bakery, Modus, Stand-by Espresso to name a few

        • @ts13:

Interesting! Never seen one in the dozens of cafe's in the Melbourne CBD I've been to/frequent.

  • A quick eBay search shows way cheaper. How is this a bargain?

Don't let JV see this. God forbid you post a free shipping "bargain".
