Hi OZB
As titled I am going for a new job and it involves a lot of public interaction and developing tools and services designed for customers to use less electricity/manage usage.
As we are all a frugal bunch for the best part - I am seeking what types of energy saving you have done at your house or business and how would you feel about a company representative advising you on how you could save usage at home/business? Other factors of the role include searching out new energy saving technologies and the application in the home - how inclined would you be in listening to this information and integrating this in to your day to day life if you were approached or sourced it from a company?
This is a bit of a long shot and excuse the vagueness of the topic. I am doing my own research for the role but would love to get some feedback from you guys who would have probably implemented a lot of cost saving measures over the years since pricing has risen.
This is not a cold calling role or anything like that.
Cheers
Gringesai
I know you're embarking on a new venture, but advice to get ahead.
Twitter, linked in, create a work account that you an follow companies you come across through linkedin and network also find them on twitter, plus ones you may already know in the game.
You're major state owned power company generally have lots of literature and a mock smart home displaying some of this tech and tips, Go have a chat with them and take a good look at what they are promoting. (record as much info as you can on companies and equipment manufacturers model numbers etc so you can see what else those companies have. They are paid to talk you through these things use it as education for yourself too.
See if there is a trade exhibit on and spend the day networking and getting advice. (don't be afraid to ask to goto one if possible even if it's interstate or overseas) just be solid with proposal to you're employer and what you hope to gain (think Globally not just locally)
If residential is the market look at architects and builders too promoting energy saving building go sit down and talk to them you're going to have to pretend to be a potential customer but small white lie in the sake of research.
Uni's run lots of research on this too if you can have a hunt maybe even call up the engineering departments and speak to them and tell them what you're looking for they could have some cutting edge things that they are working on thats being funded by one of the majors.
CSRIO they have all sorts of goodies
That's what i could think of straight off the bat
