Great price especially with priority shipping.

  • +3

Bought! Not sure what I'll do with it. Will figure that out later.

    • You could check out your roof

  • Can't apply code :(

Works now after removing all items from cart and adding the RC in.

  • +1

So many different types of this drone with the same model number. This one seems to be with 720p camera AND altitude hold. I hope this is true

    • +1

Altitude hold doesn't work, works on newer XS809HW

      • That's odd. Altitude hold is confirmed in answers to several customer questions on the item page…

  • +1

I hope this is easier to fly than the RC helicopter I bought a few years ago. Constant crashing and broken airframe turned me off the drone hype but for $AUD 40 I'll return to the fray. One over all! :)

    • +1

It certainly will be, drones or quadcopters are great, very stable flying compared to helicopters and not effected that much by the wind. My RC camera helicopter got taken in the wind and never seen again.
I have upgraded to a GPS drone now, something goes wrong (transmitter fails or low battery) and it returns to same place it took off from - seriously recommend this next step in time if you find this quadcopter fun.

  • it says code has expired :(

Shoot me a PM if she changes her mind and I'll buy one at the lower price.

Have an up-vote. Not complaining…I snooze I loose.

    • code not working..

      Edit, okay diff code my bad. Bought it, though wanted the cheaper deal ofc ;_;

Sweet! Didn't know these existed. I'm going to fly mine into very dangerous places. When I flew off a huge cliff into the ocean with my cousin's drone, I thought I'd lost it - but the Phantom Pro 4 was smart enough to come home of its own accord. I doubt this one will do the same, but if I lose it in action, who cares!

    • Where else do you fly these?

  • Code has expired …

  • Perfect christmas pressies for my brother.

Whats the shipping times like to Melbourne with GearBeast - GB noob.

    cheers

    • Free shipping can take up to a month. I would pay for priority shipping if you want it by xmas.

      • Thanks - popped the free priority shipping on that.
Its perfect its something he'd want - but his wife probably would tell him off - a good option for him :)
Its my older brother, if it doesn't come in time - he gets an empty box, and i'll give it to him the next week :D

  • Just bought one for $43, free priority shipping. Been wanting a drone to muck around with before I go balls deep and 3d print one with proper expensive parts. Thanks OP!

  • Just bought for $47 with priority shipping with no code. Many thanks, good Xmas gift for son.

    • me too… just make sure you click on the AU express option

    • Anyone get a notification email the drone was sent out? I am afraid it might not come this side of Christmas

      • Nothing yet for me

        • Mine lists as 'packed'. I have previously clicked 'dispatch faster' but I don't think this makes any difference.

        • just arrived today (Sydney CBD)

        • @pdtang:

Excellent @pdtang, mine just shipped today :( Hoping it makes it for Xmas.

        • @Nineby9: mine arrived today (Sydney CBD)

  • -4

    8 minutes fly time. nope.

    • 8 minutes is a perfectly respectable flight time for a quad, especially a $50 one. The only real negative I can see is the 50m range on it.

    • -2

      you are correct.

      *shakes fist at downvotes

    • Yep 8 minutes is ok, this is only a $50 drone. For a 20 to 25 minute battery life drone the battery alone will cost around $200!!

    • I get 10 mins easily (also mentioned in the video reviews) and I don't run them completely flat, I land the drone shortly after the drones 4 lights start flashing which is the low battery indicator.

Also spare batteries are cheap $7 each, even cheaper when you buy in packs of three, I have 5 spare so flight time isn't an issue :)

      • where do you buy the spare battery mate? btw appreciated the help with more stock

        • +2

I got mine from Tomtop before they stopped shipping them to Australia. You can still get them from eBay and Aliexpress.

Just did a quick search and they are much cheaper than what I paid a few months ago. eBay $5.62

Do a proper search of eBay/AliExpress for VISUO XS809W battery as you might find cheaper, buying 3 packs if you need more than one is usually cheaper per unit.

        • @adr8:

          Great find, thanks adr8!

      • deleted comment

  • The problem with these is the 7minute flying time. If it goes past a roof during the 7 minutes and the battery is out of charge - you lost your drone.

Better to pay extra one that goes for longer than 10 minutes (go for 15 minute).

Its really a toy not a drone due to the flight time.

    • It has a low battery indicator so you know when the battery is running low.

  • I bought one and was so excited! It arrived so quickly and I got it up and running.
I flew it and it was great, then I flew it a little higher the next time and the range on my controller was so short that it was carried by the wind and now i lost it. :(
Any possibility of another one @adr8?

    • That's no good, how high was it when it lost range? I fly mine on the footy field and it gets way above the goal posts without losing range I think I read somewhere the range is 50 or 100m, most likely the former.

Also be careful as you really can't fly these when it is windy as the motors aren't powerful enough and it can get blown away easily.

There is a deal on at them moment for even cheaper see here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/348005

      • It was definitely lower than 100m, i had it above my house at around 10-15 metres. :( could there be a chance of a malfunction controller?

        • I'd say something is amiss, unless it was very windy and it got blown out of range but check out the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJkxboNUtVo&t=23s it gets pretty high without losing signal. The only other thing I could think of is flat batteries in the controller or faulty controller.

        • @adr8: I was definitely controlling it up until a point and then it wasn't responding. Is it possible to get a replacement drone without controller?

        • @kwokstar: Not sure
