Hey there!
I have been on Android forever, so I want to know if this SE model is a good candidate for my mother
(she has used both Android and Ios in the past)
Is it an older gen phone, and has the newer OS and updates slowed it down etc?
cheers

minimum you need iPhone 6s but I have heard that SE is equivalent of 6s so might be ok. It will slow down next year though!
faster than 6s due to less pixel
Buy a Chinkdroid. Price/performance is excellent
I use an SE and it's excellent. I have it up to date and there are no performance issues.
It also maintains the headphone jack and it's a normal (some would say small) size that fits perfectly in your hand and pocket.
SE performs slightly better than 6s as it has the same processor but smaller screen size. Also it has less ram.
do you know why the 6 lags like shit after the ios updates ?
Apple's marketing techniques. They're hinting that you should definitely upgrade every 3 years if you opt to update to the latest iOS every time.
Now the 32GB SE is under $400 its not a bad option for those that dont need the latest and greatest.
SE does run the smaller 4inch screen which can be a challange for bad eyes and or fat fingers.
Still daily driving my 6S+ which shares the same internals as the SE.
I'd say the small size is great in that you can reach everything on it with your thumb, no need for two hands or hurting your thumb muscle with stretching
This is true, being use to a 5.5inch plus screen i really struggled to set my fathers new SE up for him.
More a case of what I was use to.
Ditched the 5.5 Android and now have the 5SE, great phone, but is a problem for big hands! now use a stylus with it … all fixed!.
A new SE is rumoured for March.
My daughter has one, feels it is slowing down a bit and wants a bigger screen, but doesn't have $1000.
Interesting. So next year are you going to buy a new daughter?
Wish it was that easy.
Makes sense, iPhone 5C cambe back to the $399 price point at the end of its retail life.
i have an se. its pretty good, nice and small, still pretty quick.
iphone is pretty crap though. honestly cant believe the hype. does less than android, and does those things worse than android. best thing is security, but no one outside IT gives a shit about that
its good enough if you dont want to go xiaomi or moto z though
iOS 11 reduced the battery life, but the iPhone SE is still lightning fast IMHO. Still a GREAT buy at such a bargain price.
I've had it for just over a year now, it's battery life is quite good but it has decreased since when I first was using it imo. It's become a bit laggy ever since the latest updates. The screen is functional, iOS is fast and conserves battery well but after this phone I'm definitely gonna get an XL of some sort lol. I think how small the screen is can be straining for some eyes. I'd recommend you to go check it out in store. It's basically 5S but faster, better battery.
I'd recommend you getting a 6 or 6 plus for your Mother, my Mum doesn't like small phones coz she finds the screen and text too small.
iphone 6 shits itself after the new ios updates
