Powder and Liquid, which one is better?
we use powder in the washing machine and liquid for soaking in the sink…
Definitely powder. Liquids numerous times are reported to end up building up scum inside the machine.

so does powder these days, since they removed the phosphorous.
have been told to do a cycle without clothes every few months using dish washing powder to clean it up.
@jv: I did go to woolie to get a bag of baking soda yesterday, has been told that it can clean the machine after soaking for 30-60mins. Not quite sure it works or not.
Dishwashing tablet might be a good choice, but will it damage the washing machine?
but will it damage the washing machine?
how? the water should stay in the tub until it is drained.
@jv: The tiny scrub balls might get stuck in the bearing when draining the water?
@jv:
Aluminium might be corroded if it comes into contact with a strong alkali.
That said I think most washing machine drums are made from stainless steel - but worth checking.
Some people aren't capable of carrying and utilising a 5KG tub easily would buy it.
They could hire a sherpa
5kg for $22 at BigW.
It's $30.

OMO is the best powder for Front Loaders, but a close runner up in Choice Surveys was Aldi's Trimat.
1.5kg box is $5.69 making it $3.79 per kg.

Best in terms of stain removal? Or best in terms of how kind it is to you washing machine ie scum build up etc? Or both?
Overall in all categories tested - it came very close to OMO…
I love Aldi, and I have Trimat powder at home already, but there are so many of these positive comments about them on OzB they are starting to look like shills.
We normally buy the 5kg packet of OMO. We went to the supermarket in Collingwood and it rang up as $34 - we talked to the checkout lady and the staff went back to the shelf to check. They gave us the box for nothing. Score.
What ???
Why would anyone ever pay that? The 5kg one is always $30.
