How to move apps to SD card in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x ?

As per title, SO I finally bite the bullet and bought my first REdmi Note 4x ( my first ever expensive phone). I'd search and follow advises that are in a handful of articles. However, no luck so far, due to the 'move to SD card' is not there. Im using Nougat btw, also what is/are advantage of LineageOS over Nougat ( if there is any ). Thanks.

This is what MovetoSDCard app shows https://imgur.com/a/ooe67. When I choose the "Move to sdcard" option that is in the apps

TLDR; All I want to do is move my camera apps to SD card so that I can record more video.

You'd need to mount the SD card as Extensible storage.
You should have been prompted with that option on inserting the card.

You still wont get a choice of where apps will install, the card will just appear to be an extension of the inbuilt storage and be used as required.

    • "mount" in as in software or hardware ? I tried "software" as in Setting > storage > unmount > mount, even format it at the beginning. But there wasn't any "mount the SD card as Extensible storage" option

EDIT:: here is what it shows https://imgur.com/a/s0EoE

Used the wrong terminology.. Google says "adoptable storage"
        Apparently MIUI has deactivated it.

There's a classic example of why a Custom ROM is a better option.

I run Nitrogen OS on my Redmi Note 3 Pro

lineageOS is a clean version of google experience similar to what you'd get on the pixel.

original MIUI OS is developed by xiaomi and they try to mimic the iphone experience

more customization is available on lineage as its a 3rd party OS

Nougat/Oreo is not actually the OS but the OS version M/N/O etc.
both versions will eventually update to newer Oreo version - just have to wait for development/maturity (i believe orero is available on lineage now but not sure of how many bugs)

LineageOS is slower and crashes more than Google Android.
