Kitchen Builder in Sydney - Any Recomendations?

Hi,

I am thinking of renovating my kitchen (currently rented to someone) before moving in end of next year. currently staying in eastern suburb and this new place will be in southwest.

Below are the floor plan and pics if anyone interested

Having a 45 deg corner makes me believe that i have to go with custom kitchen.
Do anyone have any kitchen builder/supplier recommendation?
Do you think budget of $15000-20000(supply and install) is reasonable? I don't mind lesser though.

Thanks.

  • ACB Kitchens in Canterbury (http://www.acbkitchens.com.au/). Alfred 0415 595 035. He's got a showroom near Haldon St. He did mine about 18 months ago. Custom made, 40mm Caesar stone benchtop, polyurethane doors and Blum soft close mechanisms for less than I would have paid for a Bunnings turd burger flat pack. Unfortunately I put a Bunnings turd burger in my laundry before hand, and it's awful.

    • Did you compare a few stores(other than bunnings) before select this? Which other stores did you compare to and any reason for you choose this one?
      thanks.

      • We looked at Nobbies, and a couple of others. They all offered the full package. We looked at IKEA, but they are flatpack, and also not waterproof chipboard. ACB doesn't do trades or design, so you need to handle that yourself, but then again, neither do Bunnings or IKEA.
This is the quote we got, and our kitchen is large: If I was doing it again, I'd do the undermount sink.

Regarding to the kitchen sketch you left in our shop last Saturday, the quotation is $11800+GST
        Quotation includes:
        1. Custom-made kitchen cabinets with poly doors
        2. Blum soft-close hinges and Tandembox Drawers systems
        3. Pull out spices basket
        4. Door mounted rubbish bin
        5. 40mm Caesarstone Benchtop (Standard Range) for Drop-in sink only; For undermount sink, there will be extra $300 Labor
        6. Supply and install.
Pls note that quotation above does not include: demolition, plumbing and electrical services. Bulkhead between ceiling and top caibnets is not included as well.

        • That was Aug 2015. Boy, that's gone quickly.

        • Price seems reasonable. Hopefully it will not raise that much after 2-3 years.

Do you do your own sketch/bill of material then or paid someone to do it?
          Thanks.

        • @kaijiun: Sorry for late reply; occasional user. We did the design ourselves. Mapped it out on graph paper, and moved things around. Perfect. A 'kitchen designer' will cost about $1000 apparently, but we knew what we wanted. We went a large U shape. Every cabinet is made in their factory in Stathfield South from AU made, waterproof chipboard.

  • I don't know if Kitchens U Build services Sydney but it would be worth calling them. I've got the guys installing my kitchen as I type, roughly 17k for rip out and install, stone benches, custom made, it's looking great so far.

    • Price sounds good. When i check their website looks like they don't have it in Sydney. Are you in VIC?

      • Yep I'm in Melb.

  • Stone benches are where your budget really blows out

  • Caesar stone is the shagpile carpet of the 2010's. Avoid at all costs.

    • Thanks,Most likely going for engineered stone.

      • Same thing. Get reall stone or wood.

  • Are you changing the design of your kitchen at all? If it's going to be the same, all you need is new doors, sink taps and benchtop. Leave the carcasses in place. You will save a fortune. Put a bulkhead in above the top cupboards, and you will have a new kitchen for a fraction of the cost. Bargain.

    • Thought of that before. But the carcasses are quite dated (more than 15 yrs old). More importantly, missus doesn't like it. Haha.
