Does Anyone Here Work for Autopro?

Year ago I purchased a particular part from Autopro, after a switched-on employee remembered seeing what I needed in an external supplier's catalogue. I contacted that same store, but they're not interested in helping.

  • Does anyone here work for Autopro, that I could PM what I need, and see if it's in any printed catalogues at their branch?

  • Would a purchase from years ago still show on my Autopro card (so I could find the manufacturer's name)?

Why not just post what you need here and put up a picture. I'm sure someone could find it for you or point you in the right direction.

    • I was going to say the same thing. I work in automotive and can get my hands on lots of parts. If I only knew what it was. I’m sure it’s not a autopro only thing.

There are lots of clued up people that could help on here, if only we had more to go on…

  • Do you not have the part that you can take a photo of and post?

    Sorry I've been sick.

I didn't list it here for a few reasons. First there are personal reasons I cannot go into, why I won't post what car I drive on a public forum. Also it's an old car; I've searched hi & low many times here and overseas; Repco/Supercheap have no clue; and I know a mechanic who tosses out most of the catalogues sent to him. Instead he just phones one of several suppliers depending on the car and they find it for him. It's a part that has dozens of sources. But only in the wrong material. (It's an engine mount and I want plastic/poly, not rubber.) I still own the first mount I bought years ago. But would like to buy spares for when it fails. And I've only ever seen what I need in that one catalogue. So because I saw the physical catalogue at Autopro, I was hoping to find someone that works there. Because it's a chain store, I figured if one store has the catalogue, they probably all have it.

      Thought this thread went dead.

I don’t think you are going to get much help from anyone here if you don’t post what sort of car it is. I would not trust the people at autopro/supercheap/autobahn etc… they are usually great people, but from my experience, they are usually 18 to 25yo retail workers, not spare parts interpreters or mechanics.

And sounds weird that you can’t post what car you drive. That would help out, a lot. It’s like asking a DJ for a song and saying, “well, I know how it goes and who sang it, but I can’t tell you that for personal reasons.”

I could put you onto some very good suppliers for poly parts, but without knowing more than the fact you want poly mounts, I’m not willing to give out their info for you to waste their time because I either sent you to the wrong supplier or you can’t tell them what car for “personal reasons”

Have you tried actually going to a store and asking?

Paranoia has its cost I think is the lesson

        • I hate people like this that come into work and wont tell me anything.

I need a poly engine mount.
Ok, what car is it for?
Doesn’t matter, all engine mounts are the same…
          Oh, really??

        • @pegaxs:

bet the OP has an EX that works at autopro.

I kinda want OP to be the Goggo Mobile guy from the old Shannon's Insurance ads and the reason he can't tell us is cause he actually ended up buying a Dart…

"Have you tried actually going to a store and asking?"

He probably doesn't tell the store what car he drives for privacy reasons.

" I contacted that same store, but they're not interested in helping."

not sure anyone is going to help you if your vague on details. try autopro in a different state or head office.

  • Secret squirrels don't get a lot of help usually.

If it is a rare car you need to go searching on a specialist forum. If it is a relatively common car, but special (GTHO falcon, Brock commodore) then there should be plenty of places to help.

I've found that Repco, Supercheap, Autobarn, Autopro are OK for current and common cars, but not much chop for specialist stuff.

    Tried 'Rare Spares'?

  • stolen rare car perhaps :p

    • More like “laughable shitbox” considering the “personal reasons” outlined above…

OP you're just going to keep getting ridiculed unless you spit it out or close the thread.
