Ryzen 7 1800X $419 Pick Up @ PC Case Gear

160

Ryzen 7 1800X Processor. I believe that this is the cheapest from local stores.

Edit: Due to limited stock, delivery (12 - 16$) is the only option; Sorry guys. An alternative option would be to buy from MSY for 435$ (Melbourne, Clayton) store pick up.

Try giving your local PCCG a call and ask them to reserve it for you; it has worked for me in the past.

No reason to buy something as reliable as processor from a local store.
I'll buy it online. Voting up for the effort though

Did you find a cheaper one online? Thanks.

I'd prefer same day availability rather than waiting for it to be delivered, easy warranty claim and a quicker/better resale value when it is bought from a local store.

      • Visiting the PCCG after-sale section is like stepping into the 70's. You talk to the staff behind a serving hatch and if you need a refund on your credit card, you have drive a block to their retail shop.

too bad the RAM prices are insanely high :/ would've loved to upgrade to ryzen.

  • Wont let me put in a pickup order, no stock. Have to get it delivered, the cheapest option for me adds $16 to the price.

  • No real benefit over a Ryzen 1700. You're really paying $100 for the name. Nearly all 1700's can go up to 3.8 GHz, some even 3.9 GHz. You'll get around 3.9 GHz - 4.0 GHz from this 1800X. Save the $100. You even get a free cooler with the 1700 (which actually lets you OC it to 3.8 GHz just fine).

    • Agreed to an extent; Ryzen 1700 is a good processor and can hit 3.9GHz but at the cost of increased voltage, temperature and power consumption (ultimately faster degradation) but the 1800x can hit 4Ghz at lower voltages and the price difference now is no more than 50$ hence I'd prefer the 1800x but many may disagree. Before the price drop, Ryzen 1700 was the ideal choice.

Worth reminding everyone that the 1800X doesn't come with a cooler, but the 1700 does (and a decent enough one at that). So unless you have one laying around, factor that into the cost difference too. i.e. 1700 vs 1800X + cooler cost.

        • Agreed!

      • Yeah, if the difference is $50, then I'd say the 1800X is not a bad buy. However, the Ryzen 1700 was $325 from Amazon on Friday, so it is genuinely a $100 difference. Either way, good to see strong competition in the CPU market, both AMD and Intel prices have gone down and performance has gone up.

  • Ryzen… so cheap. I have a feeling that Ryzen+ is only a few months away….

    • March 2018 for Pinnacle Ridge, or the next release of Ryzen.

  • How to work out the power supply requirements with a Gigabyte AX370—gaming 7 motherboard and a GTX 1060 6GB or GTX 1080ti video card? Any recommendations for a PS with all Japanese capacitors?

Use this site to configure your system; it gives you an estimate of your power requirements. I recommend choosing a power supply that is 20% higher that the estimate to have some headroom (may be for overclocking?).

The link can also show you a number of PSU's as well as the price.

AX370 Gaming 7 combined with GTX 1080 Ti, I'd be looking for at least 550W Bronze Power supply; however my personal choice would be EVGA or Corsair 80 Gold Plus 650W.
