On the other hand, extra cost to provide support to all the people who ring up inquiring the fake deal, clean up corporate images on various forums and social networks, etc — those might get added to the price that we are going to pay later.
A hoax like this is never going to save the consumers.

It's easy to say that after you know it's a fake! Plus when I first saw it, I was too busy calculating the potential bargains to closely scrutinize the quality of the flyer.

I wonder how much increase in business they will get on the days listed from people that haven't heard that its a hoax, but will end up buying something (at normal price) anyway? It has certainly created massive exposure to the "Dan Murphys" name.
I myself like to think that someone by the name of Dan is sitting somewhere in a large padded chair, his face cloaked in shadow, stroking his blinged-out kitty, laughing maniacally at yet another successful guerilla marketing campaign carried out by his innumerable minions.
