I'm looking to buy the breville dual boiler coffee machine for $799 from Harvey norman.
Ive being offered 4 yr replacement product care plan for $100 that includes wear and tear items
I know my ACL rights but good luck trying to enforce them when it's 5 yrs down the track and something minor has gone eg a seal
Iv wouldn't even consider buying extended warranty but in this case where this machine will cop a beating it's tempting
Iv had great success in the past getting items fixed outside waranty but if a supplier refuses to help you will need to go to the tribunal at a cost of $50 to enforce ACL as fair trading is only a mediator
Honestly, for a $800 coffee machine - and assuming the extended warranty actually does cover everything, $100 for 4 years CAN make sense, if it's something you'll be using on a daily basis (or multiple times a day - big household, for example).
