then mileage and performance need to be taken off your list ;)

  • My parents have a RAV4 and they loves it. My ex had a RAV4 and she loves it. Neither own the diesel variant

  • Sportage

  • Is there still a diesel Outlander?

Mechanic here. Go for the Mazda. Easily the best of the 3 at the moment. @nd would be the Toyota. Don't touch the Ford. If you want reliability with a good warranty, look at the Kia Sportage. 7 year warranty plus a 2.0 diesel with AWD and cheap servicing costs. I would rate it as good as the Mazda.

    • THANks MATE.
      At this LAST thing,
Is it better to buy Diesel awd rather than petrol version?

      • you seem undecided about what exactly you want from a car. You started the previous thread with wanting a diesel ford, until the Mazda was suggested. And you're now asking about diesel vs petrol.

What exactly are you after? What exactly was your thoughts behind picking diesel to start with?

        • I believe diesels are robust and have better mileage. Since this will be first Diesel Car of time. I want mechanics thought about it as they deal with these things as their business in everyday life

        • @ramtek: better mileage, probably. robust, not so sure.

You're buying a new car with a warranty. Are you planning on keeping it for long enough to justify the premium of diesel vs petrol?

Diesel costs a bit more to fill up per litre vs a petrol. Better mileage per tank may mean you break even though.

A diesel engine drives and feels completely different to a petrol engine even on the same make/model. Test drive one first to see if you're comfortable with the way it drives

Diesel engines make a bit more noise compared to a Petrol engine. Again, make sure you're comfortable with it.

        • @steff: thanks.

  • Qashqai diesel. Just bought a TS runs really nice and on the bigger end of the small/city SUV. It’s only 30cm shorter in length than an xtrail. Advertised economy is 4.9l/100km combined. I’m getting that on highway (Sydney to Newcastle) and about 5.5-5.8 for city driving.

Picked up an ex demo for $26.5k with only 500km on it so they are on the lower end of the spectrum for diesel suv.

No 4wd/awd though if that’s what you are after.
