Lately there have been a ton of great value items costing under $2 from places like Gearbest, Rosegal and Zapals. I myself have ten items on their way, from bottle openers to Guy Fawkes masks to things for my bike.
I propose a category of deals that applies to these products, so we can easily search for them. Something like “Low Cost” or “Ultrabargain”.
What do the community and mods think?
Let's create a new word: "subbuck", used as a tag for items less than $1.
I like it. Trouble is, a lot of them are sub USD$1, which means they’re subtwobucks here…
Easily automated. Anything under $2 from 'the usual' sellers automatically gets tagged as 'cheap crap you'll throw in the bin after opening'.
I think a label that they're "almost Free" might be useful, because previously they'd be discoverable under the "Freebies" tab.
Personally I try to avoid these sort of deals, so I don't have a problem with them being listed elsewhere. My house is full of enough rubbish without more stuff I'm going to use a couple of times (maybe) and then stuff into a drawer.
Forgive my ignorance, but does Ozbargain have a similar section to Freebay where we could pass on our useless crap (I mean pre loved items) onto to each other without money changing hands? (Several years ago I went past an adult bookstore and they had a sign in the window saying you could purchase preloved books. I just pissed myself laughing).

I would still prefer that items be tagged in their respective / right categories, rather than introducing bad data into the system. Remember that there can only be one category for each node.
e.g a 20 cent SIM adapter should be cataloged under Mobile rather than under "Low Cost"
A better alt. would be to use tags. However, getting people to tag deals properly is already a challenge in itself…
