LEGO Taj Mahal - Should I Buy Straight from LEGO.com or Wait until it Hits the Physical Shop?

I have been waiting to buy Lego Taj Mahal for awhile. Never did because of the resale prices on eBay. So I was pleasantly surprised and happy when Lego made an announcement that it is re releasing Lego Taj Mahal towards the end of this month.

My question is should I buy straight away from Lego.com or should I wait until it is for sale in physical stores? I am hoping that the price can come down to at least $425 when it's on sale in stores. Hoping that I could wait a bit and purchase it cheaper but don't want to miss out at all in owning one.

I need advice from any avid Lego collectors out there. Many thanks beforehand.

Are you planning to build or resale for profit?

        wait for a sale.

It's sounds pretty cool and a great activity. Having said that, you could get a return flight to India for the same price and see the real thing.

I'm pretty sure that they won't let you destroy the real one Godzilla style, though. Or fill it with Star Wars minifigures to create the most audacious Bollywood lightsaber fight ever.

If you buy from Lego website at full price, you get free shipping because it's over $200 and a few Lego gifts for spending so much.
If you wait for a sale, there's a chance you might miss out, or it might exclude that set anyway (myer does this)

    • If that's the case I might wait until Lego has double VIP point or even better triple. I don't know what's the chance of $500 set being in the physical shop anyway since Disney castle has not even been in one?

      • 99% sure they had a Disney Castle at the Chadstone Lego Store

        • I was referring more toward stores like Myer, Big W, Target or Kmart where chances of it being on sale is higher. Plus where I live, we don't have Lego store. I buy mine at times from Lego.com

        • @readannie:
You will never find it at target, big w or Kmart. Only ever seen the expert sets at myer, David jones and maybe toys r us.

  • Is this the same version they released years ago and its coming back? that's not good for die hard investors is it?

    • Hope so, investors can get (profanity).

      • There is one extra part to differentiate + different model number + different box photo.

        • Extra part is the Lego separator.

  • Normally with the creator expert sets Myer will run the occasional 20% off i cant see this being a small run set as it is massively popular and not an ideas limited run if you can hold out you can probably get it for a fair whack less than rrp.
