[OzBargain 11th Birthday] Melbourne Meetup

Justin from Poked & Gameology has graciously offered the use of one of their stores in the CBD after they close for a board games night (or any other idea).

Possible date/time/place: Thursday, November 30 from 5:30PM @ Poked 111 Bourke Street (near Parliament/Bourke St. Mall)

  • Poked closes at 3ish so the place is ours to do whatever afterwards.
  • From 5:30PM onwards we'll be there. If you want to just grab a t-shirt or say hi and run off, do so.
  • Probably order pizzas (sorry, no Poke on offer) and some drinks.
  • Have a box of t-shirts up for grabs (this time with shirts for women).
  • We'll have a games night so if anyone has suggestions on what games they would like to play, please do comment.
  • Should be plenty of room (pic of inside(not my pic)).

Any other ideas? Do an item swap? Entertainment book swaps? Let me know.

          I would find this comment hilarious; if I hadn't bought myself a Macpac down feather jacket for my trip to Switzerland. I do recommend them though :)

    G'day all

    Congratulations to Scotty and the members who make OZB what it is. I thought I was an early adopter, looks like it took me three years to wake up to OZB. Since then it has been part of my routine. I saved learnt so much on the forums, saved a ton of money and plied up a lot of things which I don't need (this now includes a brand new iPhone 7, still in its box).

    This meet up is so convenient. I work in the next building.

    Unfortunately, there is a conflicting schedule on that day. So, I can't do 5.30 PM.

    However, if possible I would love to instead drop in at say 4 PM. Just say hello to any early starters and help out with setting up for the meet up?

      Good suggestions. I was referring to non-alcoholic drinks. Serving alcohol brings along a lot of legal issues (not a licensed venue, need RSA, etc.).

    Anyone have a Catan set? Great game only slightly less frustrating than Monopoly.

    Exploding Kittens is fun (imagine a better/more adult Uno-style game).

    What about the basics of Trouble, Kerplunk etc?

      Damn. So it looks like sometime in the last couple of weeks, Blizzard changed the event creation leadtime from a maximum of 1 week to a minimum of 1 week…

      Sorry all, but because of that I can't host an official Hearthstone Fireside this Thursday. If anyone wants to play some casual games at the Meetup find me on the night.

          Haha, I do love a good hard Yakka true blue construction worker outfit, though I'm not physical enough to be one, hence the maths :p
          I will wear the watch in my profile picture though, solid $3300 of satellite syncing in there (of course I didn't pay that retail price for it haha)!

    I'm still balancing precariously as to being able to go.

    If I do, I have a digital version of Talisman that can be played (just prefer something bigger than a 7 inch tablet). The game is a role-playing action adventure where you have to basically kill the other players. It was played in Big Bang Theory once, never mentioned, but it's easy to pick up, can be over quickly or slowly, depending on the players.
