I have noticed while looking on fb and Gumtree that some posters of second hand car sales ads will not list the mileage of the car that they are selling. I would have thought this detail is among the key things that people would want to know when buying a car. So why do alot of people leave this info out?
Car Ads What Is The Reasoning for Not including odometer reading

People will try and sort of trick when selling cars. Another thing to look out for is people advertising cars using the compliance date instead of build date. That can vary by as many as a few years in some cases, so definitely need to check that.
when they say 2016 but MY17, is 2017 a compliance date?
Just lazy. Or they want you to co tact them to ask so they can talk it up.
Not everyone is as smart as you when they sell a car.
It makes the item look bad.
ask… when you ring up about a car your interested in. they're answer will tell you a lot more than "how many k's" the car has done.
What an obvious question.
People don't want to list the negatives, just the positives.
An analogy..
If you list yourself on a dating site do you include that you do smelly farts and show a photo from this morning, or do you only list the things that make you look good?In my opinion, it's more like not stating you're male or female on a dating website. KM is one of the essential factors to consider when buying a car, just like gender when dating. There're special occations that are exceptions…I guess, if you want to go down that route…
Oz8argain, no a my17 refers to a model year 17. As an example Subaru may make some Minor changes to Forester , perhaps colour options trim levels etc, alloys. These changes usually take place around the last quarter of the year. So the car could be built in Japan in 10/16, complied in Australia, 11/16, but is a Model Year (MY17).
Quite possibly, the reason why they aren't putting it on there is because they don't want you to know.
Someone is much more likely to buy or make an offer on a car if they have had a look at it as they have taken time out of their day. Of course, most people would ask for the mileage first, but fb and gumtree prey on the fools that don't.
