How Can I Protect Car outside in Sun Almost Every Day (on Street) ?

Hi,

I live in QLD and have a Honda Civic that doesn't get driven much (Health condition doesn't allow me to study or work currently). I drive it once or twice per week, and do want to keep it for easy mobility.
I want to protect the paint, I had a good detail done on it last week and had the roof repainted in areas ($500). https://imgur.com/cmMvaVd, https://imgur.com/bXL6tHQ,

Is there a Car Cover I can put on it while on the road? I live in an Apartment building and can pay for a car space $30-$40 week, but that is $1500-$2000 per year.

Any ideas? :)

Josh

A quality wax/sealant every 6 months will protect the paint. A car cover will also protect the paint but the car has to be washed before putting the cover on or it will scratch the paint.

Car Covers are quite popular. Find one that would suit your car. I have one for my car which I bought from eBay years ago.

  • Nice ride. You'd want something like this:

But I'll leave it to people with more OzB skills than I do to find the cheapest one. That's just a quick ebay search.

^cheaper version of the same one.

  • Maybe a longshot, but I know a guy that does this.

Do you know any other apartments that have a car space on their title (they own the space), that they would rent out?

  • Bikies.

    No wait wrong problem.

You could stitch their leather jackets together and make a protective cover for the car. Might be hard to keep them still while you're doing this though.

  • Cover it

    Did you try Dbrand yet?

Have Opti-Coat professionally applied (check around Detail Paradise forums for assistance) and park it away from the apartment in a location with as much shade as possible, if your health permits. However, if it is therefore parked under a tree where bird droppings, sap and other ruinous fallout are common, you'll need to clean it as soon as any such contaminants are identified. While parking spaces under trees is hot property during summer, many people don't realise that these spots can cause far worse issues for the long-term health of the paint (due to irremovable etching) than parking in a sunnier position with fewer dangers overhead.

https://www.parkhound.com.au/ or similar sites, you may be able to find someone with an idle carport at a cheaper rate.

    • Nice one.

You should be more worried about your number plate which is hanging to one side. All the letters have already slid right off!

  • Just a thought,if your parking arrangements have changed since insuring the car,it might pay to let the insurers know.It could make a difference in the unfortunate event of a claim.

    • Yeah good reminder, although it has always been on the street unfortunately so it is listed to live on the street! 😛
