Chocolate Advent Calendars 2017?

Hello Ozbargain,

What do you guys do for chocolate advent calendars?

Pretty much every grocery store has the cheap calendar for $1 - $3. I am trying to find something a bit more premium.

Lindt does a good advent calendar but they are $22 each at the DFO! I found a few nicer ones from Kinder and Cadbury

Are there any other options?

Thanks

Asking on ozbargain about how to spend more money than necessary?

    Who are the calendars for?

I purchased bulk after Christmas sales in 2011. Still using them as gifts for the Jewish kids next door. They havent complained yet.

I feel like there is a story here just waiting to come out :)

make one just google it there are so many different ways to make them and you can put in whatever you want my little 4 year old doesnt like chocolate so we put in little toys and kinder surprises (the only choc she eats) all the things she likes and she loves it

    • I think that is a great idea. You can then use good quality chocolates and create your own theme.

  • Thanks for the suggeations. At first I thought I was on 4chan, still getting used to the cunty sense of humour!

I should have added this is for the wife and I haha. Something to look forward to after work to count the days down to Christmas.

  • I had the beer advent calander last year. It was good but expensive

  • You could do a LEGO Advent Calendar. I've purchased the L'Occitane Advent Calendar for the second year in a row this year!

  • I bought a wooden advent calendar shaped like a tree a few years back that has little drawers you can mix around and hide treats in
There were 4-5 really decorative ones at Myer when I bought it and it's great as you can mixup what you put in it/where the numbers go

Good option if you're looking for something really special or if you're one of those guys that wants to hide an engagement ring in it (backstory, my missus was losing patience and all her friends thought that was the plan. Heaps too predictable, they were all wrong)

  • Why not take a different angle and share the peace by getting one that's fair-trade, does not involve west African child slave labour and also boycotts the worst of animal exploitation:

Google it for Australian sources, around $11-12.
